How about adding a new weapon category. Like the blow dart and slingshot. Giving these items some new mechanics like blow dart using poison guarantees that the animal stays alive relatively long but doesn't necessarily spook but ruining the meat in the process, giving you less money. Still a used method in tribes in Africa, they cut out the meat around the hit area and throw that away. And a sling or slingshot for smaller prey and for scaring away bigger aggressive animals. Some slingshots can even fire arrows (see image, they are from Google). There can be lots of uses for these things maybe in mission where you need to tranquiles an animal for checkup.

I saw a suggestion for a indonesian map if i recall right, and it contained a blowgun, which could be a cool weapon, aswell as spears. Both could make people use the treestands a bit more, i personaly use them less than the treestands.

I wouldn't mind, however, I'm sure there's a whole community out there that will describe this unethical, disregarding the fact that it's only a game. That's the reason we don't get to hunt certain animals too

Yeah but that also depends on what you give and how you expect to use it. Like if you use a slingshot for a bird, it should get the job done, especially the arrow one. But yeah if you use it on a fox or let's say a turkey not so much. You could add a scoring system to it giving you more points for a sling kill on small animals (cause there are no bullet wounds), but you have to get closer and your aim has to be better. And the blow dart is indeed a difficult one, but it all depends on perspective, I mean death sentence is also done with poison not shooting. I think there is room for it in the game but they need to add some new mechanics to make it worth the extra difficulty without just slaugthering everything.
