This is just an idea for minor improvements and utility's sake.
.410 gauge single shot. Adding an option for birdshot from the moment you get to the very first outpost, seeing as base game bird shot has to be unlocked for some reason this would be a big help for new players. (also, adding .410 slugs would make a lot of people happy and serve as one more 2-4 option, the shot could use a minor buff)
.17 Magnum bolt action rifle. It would serve as a base game weapon capable of handling classes 1-2 without forcing a player to buy Mississippi Acres. it would only have a 5 round magazine though(We also wonder why the .22H is still 1-2 when it can handle class 3 animals like springbok or roe deer BETTER than the .223)
This is basically all I think should be added to the base game, except maybe a recurve crossbow, to cover the areas that need it. (if you have any other ideas let me know)
Anyway, this last one is a balancing request. I'd love to see the .30-30 and .270 moved to class 3-7 and buffed to roughly equal the performance of the 7.62x54R Solokhin. both so that rifle has some actual competition and to make the base game weapons worth getting. In addition to that, A lot of people agree that the .45-70 Coachmate should be reclassed to a 7-9 rifle, buffed accordingly, to offer more options for the larger animals in the base maps like bison and moose. It also really doesn't need to cover 4-6 at all, the .30-30** SHOULD **be handling them nicely as it does IRL.
Honestly? There's no actual balance of weapons in the game, just a few that work for what they're supposed (new dlc) to do and the rest are obsolete(base game/early dlc)
(also, i gotta wonder why the .300 is 7-9 only, even in older hunting shows they use it for antelope that weigh less than 60 pounds up to elk and Moose, Never seen anyone try to hunt buffalo or lions, it would be far too weak and illegal too)
