The lever action 45-70 in COTW to be blatant, is terrible. The only thing they got right is the range of the 45-70. A 45-70 irl is such a powerful gun close range that it easily out does a .338 or .300 at about 130 yds or less and it is often use for grizzly bear defense irl and can drop a grizzly where it stands, so I think that maybe the 45-70 should be classed in cotw at ranges from 6-9 and it needs a huge power buff and closer you are the more powerful it hits the animal. I was a bit underwhelmed when I purchased the 45-70 so long ago and it was that bad, please fix this and make the 45-70 a more powerful round so it’s actually useful, this also goes hand in hand with the 30-30.

Yes agreed, I have been hoping this would get some love for a long time, I mean they were buffalo rifles fr an in game the 308,3006 or most 4-8 rifles will kill faster imo the 7mm has 53 pen on soft points I believe an the 45-70 is 20 I think? That's crazy as irl a 45-70s expansion would be more than a 7mm or 3006 the bullets are way bigger

The stats don't show the actual performance
Anyway yeah it needs a buff in bad way, it doesn't need to handle class 4 or five, it's too heavy and kicks too hard to be used for a regular old deer rifle anywhere but states that require straightwall cartridges (and there's better straight wall cartridges for deer)

Having hunted with a .30-30 for literally 20 years now, I can tell you it will flatten feral goats, whitetail deer, 300 lb donkeys and black bears with a single hit in a half decent spot. It should be a 3-7 because nobody is using a .30-30 to actively hunt raccoons and coyotes unless they're lost and starving.

I agree I love 3030 open sights but it could use a buff as well, I get low bleed rates on whitetail with the sp rounds, at close range irl a 3030 can cause big damage to a whitetail, myself ive not shot one with it but ive seen plenty of deer shot with 150 an 170 grain bullets, they are used alot here in west virginia , an on my last post I said it was pen , I ment the 7mm has 53 expansion an the 45-70 only has 20, that's crazy the bullets for the 45-70 is way bigger an heavier an should expand more , i think we need some lever action love in cotw fs.... happy hunting everyone
