  • Spot Fallow deer drinking
  • "New drink zone discovered"
  • Shoot 2 deer (no other hunting pressure in the area)
  • Check map and zone is gone

For me this happened on Emerald Coast, but I've seen a couple of other people reporting the same problem on Te Awaroa.
Seems to be affecting Fallow and Red Deer zones for all 3 of us, but I have no idea if it is a problem specific to those species, or if it affects all.

I will try to capture video next time I notice this happening and share the footage here.

And you’re sure it’s not a solo male drink zone? If you kill a solo male they move drink zones but usually at the same lake or waterway.

Newly discovered zones tell you how many animals are connected to those zones. If you shoot them all, the zone disappears. For example, I had a mixed drink zone for Hog Deer (2) and red fox(2), and I was hunting with a bow. The zone was for 2 deer, one male, one female. Both came to drink and I shot both of them. The zone for Hog Deer disappeared, leaving the zone for fox.Later, I shot a red fox there. The zone remained. Several days later, I saw and shot another fox there. The drink zone completely disappeared. So that is likely what happened. You shot the 'herd' for that zone.

I'm certain I have several solo male drink zones that I visit regularly and the zones never disappear

although for the case I described above (where the bug happened), it was a full herd zone
