#Backpack Overhaul

I know that there are already a few posts about backpacks but here is my idea. Backpacks really are a great idea, but no one wears them due to the increase in visibility and noise.

Even for the fanny pack, the 3 in noise and 1 in visibility makes way to big of a difference to be used, especially for hunting trophy animals. It would be so nice if the fanny pack was one of those back packs that have very low to no cons and the day pack as well as the trekking pack had a lesser amount of cons, possibly maybe a 2-2 in visibility and noise for the day pack and a 3 in visibility and 4 in noise.

Also, if this changed ever did get added, the price of the fanny should be raised to make it more of a upgrade.

Also, If the noise and visibility meter was more clear, that would be much easier to understand. Having a noise increase saying 3 is not really understandable. It would be a lot better if the increase in noise was in meters and yards

Please feel free to throw in your thoughts and suggestions in the comments. I'm sure us players would love a rework on backpacks. Thanks and keep us players updated!

How about a option to "drop" or " place" a backpack? I think that would solve all the problems. Just drop the damn thing if it gets in your way.. like you would in real life.

Picture this, folks: You're out there in the wild, just you and Mother Nature, on the hunt for some game. Now, you ain't lugging around a whole bunch of unnecessary gear, oh no. You come prepared with a trusty backpack, loaded up with all the essentials, and then some. Decoys, treestand, you name it – it's all in there.
But here's the kicker, when the situation calls for it, you drop that pack like a sack of potatoes. Boom! No worries, though, 'cause your weaponry is still right where it belongs – strapped to your person. Meanwhile, that backpack of yours finds a cozy spot on the map, like a beacon of convenience.
See, that's the beauty of it. Your backpack transforms into a mobile base, your command center in the wilderness. Just like when you're out on a real-life hunting trip, you establish a proper basecamp, then trim down to the essentials. It's all about being nimble, adaptable, and efficient.
And why stop there, right? Why not take it up a notch? Imagine having a shooting rest mounted right on that pack. Drop it down, steady your aim, and bam! You've got yourself a rock-solid shot with a little help from your trusty backpack.
So there you have it, folks. The perfect hunting setup – a backpack that's not just a pack, but a partner in the pursuit of game. It's all about embracing the outdoors, being resourceful, and making the most of what you bring along. Happy hunting, and may your backpack always be your trusty sidekick!

They would need to make it where the backpack had designated item slots that way when you drop your pack you would know exactly what you are dropping.

I think one of the few cons of the dropped backpack it would need is it deters animals nearby because of human scent, overtime it will deter animals from going to need zones maybe even delete them?

@whole niche Well, that mobile base idea might've been a tad exaggerated. Allow me to clarify – what I really meant was a practical solution for some extra storage space that you can easily drop when necessary. It's not meant to be a full-fledged base, but rather a convenient extension of your gear-carrying capabilities. Just a simple backpack that can be set aside when the situation calls for it. 😁

Not a bad idea, and I don't see it as a con really. Too many animals and need zones anyway, in my opinion. 😅

In all honesty they just need to remove the visibility and loudness additions. Just make us go a little slower while wearing it maybe.

Glad this post is here. So much aversion to using backpacks but it’s such a great feature…shame rarely used. What if the vision and sound was scaled. So if the “extra” space was full, then full vision and sound as currently defined. But what if I take the backpack, but only carry less than the capacity, so the vision and sound is less than currently defined. Basically, why would an empty backpack make same vision and sound as a full one.

I feel like wearing the fanny pack while having both tiers of the Soft Feet Skill is the same as not wearing a "backpack" while not having the Skill at all. It kinda can els each other out. Or if it does add sound beyond not having either applied, it's very minimal, like rating it a 1 instead of 3. I have Pack Mule and occasionally equip the fanny pack for even more inventory space when I need it, and I feel like the extra noise I make is not enough to be detrimental to my hunt.

I think instead of tweaking how backpacks work, maybe giving us a couple extra Perk points and adding a 5th category for Utility would be a slightly better solution (or give us Utility Points in a couple of the levels beyond 37 that we go without earning a Skill or Perk Point to put in that category) ; with Perks like Hiker Efficiency that would further dampen sound when wearing a backpack, Motor Maestro that would cut down the spook radius that the ATV makes from 500m to maybe 350m at tier 1 then 250m at tier 2, Lion Tamer that would remove the effect your dog has on alerting certain animals, and things of that nature.

This would be a bit of work for the devs, but could help the quality of life in the future.

Cant endorse the OP because I think the extra inventory vs noise is currently about right ... I do like the idea of being able to drop your pack when needed ....

honestly backpacks should make it so ammo doesnt take up space, ussualy i cant get something since im using 0.09 space on bullets and its annoying

#

having a bunch of space doesnt seem too op, getting a backpack from a hard quest would be cool
