This suggestion is sort of tied in with #1120790579329122304, #1121138205656367258, and #1120394592265719950. These suggestions are for hunting games that take place in prehistory, and this suggestion is for a hunting game that takes place in the 1500s, 1600s, 1700s, 1800s, and early 1900s. This game would increase the possibilites of living species that could be hunted, mainly because laws for hunting weren't as strict back then (and populations of many animal species were much higher back then too.) This would limit the kinds of weapons that would be available, mainly because modern-day weapons obviously didn't exist back then. y'all can add your map ideas, weapon ideas, mechanic ideas, and etc. down below. i'll also add ideas below too.

Africa and Asia definitely have potential in a vintage hunting game
After all areas like Sudan & Chad would be perfect areas for hunting several exotic species such as Scimitar-horned Oryx, Addax, Dama Gazelle and Barbary Sheep alongside animals like Hyena, Lion, Warthog, Baboon, Rhinoceros & Greater Kudu, and that is just one example
im really interested as to what could be done for North America. like a West Virginia map with Elk, Bison, Whitetail Deer, Black Bears, Red Wolves, Coyotes, and etc. would be awesome
alright here's my first map idea:

Is this inland or coastal?
mix of both
it's sort of inland, and sort of coastal
You could coastal brown bear alongside BB and grizzlies
I’m investing in this
Make a tasmanian map during the late 1700s-mid 1800s. Main animal. The thylacine. Aka the Tasmanian tiger. Also the Moa bird
Moas wouldn't work because they went extinct before the time range of the game, which is between 1500s - early 1900s. Plus, Moas lived in New Zealand, not Tasmania
Thylacines could definitely work tho

Okay. Just thought they could since they went extinct around the 1450s
im gonna be reviving this forum. if i made any ideas for maps or anything else before this message, discard them, as i will be making new map ideas. i'll also been expanding the time range to the 1400s all the way up to the early 2000s. this forum is still associated with #1120394592265719950, #1120790579329122304, #1229142679129030726, and #1121138205656367258 since they all deal with the ideas of hunting/fishing games set in the past/prehistory

Technically, this is a modern weapon based of some of the very first "Express rifles" used in Africa, it is a double barreled muzzleloader with a .72 caliber bore, like the Hudzik it could use a round ball ammo type as well as hard lead Minie Balls (actually conical full bore bullets with a soft lead "skirt" that expands to form a gas seal) the ammunition being a bit more advanced in designed made this weapon more suited to taking on the Elephant for the sake of the ivory trade and these weapons were popular until black powder gave way to modern smokeless powders
After the turn of the century, these heavy rifles were slowly replaced by small bore rifles using high velocity ammunition (some questionable bullet materials as well) that ranged from .30 caliber to .50. Some of the more popular options however, were short lived due to colonial bans on "Military surplus cartridges and weapons"
It was companies like the famous Westley Richards that developed cartridges that were designed entirely for colonial hunters and protecting farms from wildlife or thieves. They were designed to work perfectly in converted surplus rifles with minimal changes. The first one that comes to mind is this.
The .318 Westley Richards, Special Colonial grade. touted by THE W.D.M Bell (one of the last great ivory hunters) as a reliable rifle responsible for keeping his party fed and the ivory stacked up. He claims to have killed 5,000 buffalos and hundreds of elephant with this caliber. Can't imagine this wouldn't suit Vintage in all it's glory.
Even before the turn of the century, Westley Richards had already been looking toward Africa's new frontier as a sportsman's paradise. One of the rifles that became extremely popular was a 6.5 bolt action adapted from surplus rifles. Particularly suited for keeping the larder full and being easy to source, even in the colonies, the Mannlicher-Shconauer became a staple across the German territories of Africa. This 1897 model was studied by WR in order to produce some of their most popular hunting rifles
something like this would be great except for me just hunting with an old gun would not be as fun. They would need to have a reserve without any modern features like modern buildings or other modern structures . for me they would need to add a third person perspective with some old clothing that looked period to the time you were hunting in . it's almost like this would need a separate game all it's own ... Kind of like Primal was a separate game for the same reasons ....
yeah, its meant to be a separate game so I'm all in
Good point though, it'd be nice to have to carry and set up camp each time you moved out of an area
should note that Primal would have both modern and ancient weapons btw
i see your point for this game tho
Us great plains (Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, hell maybe even the texas panhandle with adobe walls. Preferably wyoming)
-plains bison. A LOT OF plains bison. Should dominate this map like old white people dominate Facebook.
-mule deer
-pronghorn antelope
-rocky mountain elk (heard they used to live in plains?)
-maybe wild cattle
-coyotes
-wolves
-Jack rabbits
-prairie dogs
-sage grouse
-rattlesnakes
Guns
-1874 sharps
-1861-63 Springfield rifle musket
-1873 Springfield trapdoor
-Spencer rifle
-any Winchester rifle
-1895 Winchester
-1853 Lee Enfield rifled musket
-double barrel shotgun
-1851 colt navy
-Schofield revolver
-1873 single action army
Get a famous historical figure like bat Masterson to be the warden
1865-1900
great idea. love the Plains Bison/Facebook analogy lmao
Thank you
Question: do all weapons work on all maps, or are weapons map locked?
i'd imagine all the weapons would work on all maps. it's up to the player if they want to use certain weapons on certain maps (like if they want to be historically accurate, they can, but if they don't want to and they want to bring like a 90s rifle to the 1600s, then they can do that too). it's just to give players more freedom and make the game more fun
Ok thanks

After some recent discussion I realize Iran/Persia is rather untapped: You had Maral, Persian Fallow Deer, Gazelles, various wild sheep, ibex, boar and Persian Onager alongside predators like Syrian Brown Bear, Asiatic Lion, Striped Hyena, Indian Wolf, Caspian Tiger and even a population of Mugger Crocodiles, heck the whole Middle East is untapped potential
Hmmm interesting. May check it out and make a map idea once I get back from my camping trip

I’m not too sure, I never really looked into that
Well judging by the date, no firearms. So asiatic bows spears and/javelins
Well, handheld firearms. I doubt EW will let you hunt with the great bombard
Oh yeah, guns really didn't exist as tools for hunting in the 1400s, maybe theHunter Vintage should be narrowed down to a smaller time period if rifles, shotguns and handguns are to still remain a major part of a hunters arsenal.
Australia please
Id absolutely love an oldern times cotw
I'd love this game
you have a point. idk we'll see
Would still love to see this
real

Trophy Lodge Presets
Details
While players would be able to customize/build/create their trophy lodges any way they want, the game could offer several trophy lodge presets for those who don't want to spend time creating their lodge. These are the trophy lodge presets I have in mind for TheHunter: Vintage.
Pioneer's Lodge
The Pioneer's Lodge is a trophy lodge located in 1700s - 1900s North America. This lodge is for those interested in American history or the history of hunting in the Americas. The lodge would be quite rustic in appearance, and wouldn't have too many mounts. While any animal could be placed in this lodge, it is recommended you display North American animals in this lodge to immerse yourself with the lodge. Images 1 - 3 below show what the lodge would look like.
European Lodge
The European Lodge is a trophy lodge located in 1600s - 1900s Europe. This lodge is for those interested European history or a lodge with a classical feel. The lodge would have a very classical feeling to it, meaning the furniture and etc. are quite fancy. The lodge would have a good bit of mounts in it. While any animal could be placed in this lodge, it is recommended you display European animals in this lodge to immerse yourself with the lodge. Images 4 - 6 below show what the lodge would look like.
Safari Lodge
The Safari Lodge is a trophy lodge located in 1800s - 1900s Africa. This lodge is for those interested African history or hunting exotic species. The lodge would have a lot of mounts in it. It is recommended you display African animals in this lodge to immerse yourself with the lodge. Images 7 - 9 below show what the lodge would look like
I'd love this still

I will be going on a temporary, but long hiatus in terms of making ideas for this game idea and other game ideas like it on this server. this is mainly because I want to work on more ideas for my own prehistoric hunting/fishing game idea separate from TheHunter brand, which I call Outdoorsman: Prehistory. I'm not done making ideas for this game idea forever though
