Martini Henry Rifle

Anywhere the British Empire went during the late Victorian era this rifle followed. That being said, this wasn't just a military weapon, both soldiers and hunters used this weapon across the empire to hunt a plethora of wild game. From red deer and kudu to lions and tigers. It's capable of taking out game the size of cape buffalo and bison as well. I think that the addition of this rifle to the game would add a new historical weapon that was used to hunt wild game all across the planet.

Personally I would love to see it be able to take out classes 4-9 but I also understand that it fires a rather beefy cartridge with a substantial round. I know that the Martini Henry has been used (even today) to take out animals as small as roe deer and springbok. But that being said I'd be happy to see it enter the game being able to take out classes 6-9 as I feel that something the size of red deer and up is the bread and butter of this amazing weapon.

I also believe that when they decide to drop the Africa 2.0 this would be the perfect rifle to accompany it. In case they didn't want drop a whole new weapon pack

This rifle is one I'd love to see for a special reason. When I was really little, i came across a book called Maneaters of Kumaon, written by an Indian born Englishman named Jim Corbett. Absolutely hooked me. Corbett used his army issued Martini-Henry to bring down the Champawat Maneater, a tiger that had killed 234 people when Corbett had first heard of him. He was also a legendary conservationist , he lobbied for years to protect India's dwindling population of big cats, which he enjoyed filming more than hunting. He was forced out of india when it was freed of british rule and spent his last few years in Africa.

India didn't totally forget how hard he worked to keep people safe, tho. Corbett National Park is a great place to find and photograph wild tigers constantly protected and studied by game wardens who take their jobs seriously

Yeah, I believe I talked about adding it in a post I made before they revamped the suggestions, might be lost now.

I was talking about a bunch of classic rifles like the M1903 Springfield, French Berthier and mentioned the Martini-Henry and it's association to the Battle of Rorke's Drift.

Considering the original Martini-Henry was black-powder, I think the 4-9 with a bit more oomph than the current 4-9 cartridge (.45-70) would be good. Just for balance. Maybe boost it to 6-9 even.

And I'm still trying to stick to the black powder rounds here, as there is the possibility to have this in .303, though that would be a Martini-Enfield, and in 7.65 Belgian, which would be about the same performance as .303. So, single shot, high performance, 6-9, black powder rifle with a big puff of smoke, that doesn't sound too bad.

Ah... It seems I misremembered and didn't mention Rorke's Drift specifically, I found my backup text file for my Classic Weapons DLC suggestion and the text I had written was:
"Maybe a Martini-Henry rifle known from the Anglo-Zulu War and the Boer Wars."

Very nice! That's why I feel that if they do an Africa 2.0 map the Martini Henry would be perfect, since it was used across much of Africa but both soldiers and hunters.
