This issue fixes itself if you walk outside the firing range and shoot once, wasting a shot, cock the gun, and then return. It still makes testing the gun's left side misalignment inconvenient.

Not a fix, but a temporary simple solution until it's fixed is to carry both ammo types on you, and when you fire just open the weapon wheel and swap ammo. it will go through the reload animation and the hammer will reset. only takes a second and I know after a while those extra seconds add up, but for now it will be quicker than leaving the infinte ammo zone, firing, reloading and going back and it will save those precious bullets.

It's less egregious then the Solokhin's broken chamber in my opinion, since you actually pay money for that one.
