#War on Pest Mission not working on Emerald Coast

Be sure to actually be holding the weapon when you harvest the animal. It seems the mission is a bit too literal ("Harvest with a bow/shotgun/etc.")
Okay thanks I’ll try this and see how it goes.
Yes you are correct. Must be holding the weapon. Thanks for the tip
Oof. Thanks for the tip.. I've probably shot 4 fox with shotgun and 5 fallow with handgun and am still at 0/10 across the board.
i actually once want to try hunting using different weapon and then selecting correct one while harvesting
Wow just killing with random gun and harvest with required gun works
So you could technically kill them with anything as long as you harvest them with the proper gun?
Ugh they need to fix that. Takes away the fun and the challenge
helps me.
i am bit weak on short range handing
Yes, just like the Olden Days mission in New England - same workaround. If a mission requires a hunting objective with specific conditions to complete it, like 'pass the harvest check', 'from at least D m away', earn a Gold or better, 'single shot kill', and so on, everything the programming needs to know is found in the harvest data screen. Why should the answer to the question 'what weapon was used to kill the animal being claimed' be 'look at what the player is holding as the currently selected inventory item' - should it not be 'look in the harvest data and see what weapon was used'?
This mission also does not recognize the Davani 10mm as a handgun LOL
It seems that the term harvest is being used sometimes to mean 'claim trophy', and in other cases, means 'shoot and kill the animal, track the blood trail to the body, and then claim the trophy'
So, in EC, there is the Kangaroo Management mission that says, 'Harvest a Kangaroo from at least 200.00m', and that can only mean 'shoot and kill from at least 200m, find the body, and claim the trophy', and NOT 'be at least 200m away when you claim the trophy'.
so, how do you interpret 'Harvest a Kangaroo from at least 200.00m', and 'Harvest a Kangaroo with a Heart Shot', then? (both are in the EC Kangaroo Management mission), and why should 'Harvest an animal with a <specific weapon>' not have the same meaning of harvest as those other statements? This is not what too literal means - the word harvest is used sometimes to mean just 'claim trophy', and other times means the more accurate 'shoot and kill an animal, travel to the body, and Claim Trophy'. This is just a case of sloppy interpretation of software requirements
Regardless, the player needs to be holding the appropriate weapon when the animal is harvested or it will not register. Yes, for most rational people, that means you also killed it with that particular weapon, but this is NOT what the mission is asking for, and the actual weapon used is completely irrelevant. (As I said, it is overly literal.)
yeah, that's the workaround for a programming error LOL. Every other mission ( that I've played in 2500+hrs of this game (across 3 new game instances)) that required a specific weapon to be used to kill an animal could always be completed when I claimed the trophy, regardless of what I was holding in my hand, and regardless of how the mission was worded. The weapon used when I made the claim was always determined by what was recorded on the harvest screen, not by what was in my hand. To an experienced professional software developer like me, this is the intent of the mission requirement. In software development, your interpretation of this mission's behavior is "working as implemented", whereas what is truly important is 'working according to unambiguously worded requirements specifications'. The problem is not that the requirement is too literal, it's that the usage of the word 'harvest' is being used ambiguously, both by players and the developers, it seems. In my career, I've written and reviewed hundreds of requirements documents, and these are the types of questions we ask to ensure that each requirement is clear, concise, and has a precise meaning that all project stakeholders (especially the end users) would agree on. Still, mistakes can be made at any point in the process, and slip through the cracks - when we've done what is called 'root cause analysis' of a defect, more often than not, it comes down to poorly worded specifications that were misunderstood by someone in the chain.
i am now carrying bow without arrow and hunting hog deer with 243
That, and the fact that every player who trips over this has a WTF?? moment, because it's so unexpected
I submitted a ticket,as per JaxyBeard's recommendation, describing the problem and observed behaviors. It will be interesting to see what they come back with
done no more bow ussage now 😛
Oh bow is the best weapon in game!
yeah but issue is with range.
i use the bow with range finder part.
the traditional bows i don't know where the aim is at.
is there a way to know how to use tranditional bow in game ?
go to the shooting range in Hirschfelden
Parque has a good range too
