We are aware of an issue that is affecting a small number of PlayStation users where Data loss leading to a corrupt save file can occur. Our team is working diligently to find a solution to this issue. We understand the importance of our players save data and have made this a priority
Please monitor this thread for any updates.

In the meantime, to ensure that this does not affect your save file, we strongly suggest that PlayStation users back up their save data. If you encounter this issue we recommend playing with a new save file until we can offer a proper fix, or alternately you can restore the backup and avoid playing on any maps/reserves which you have not been to before in that save.

To backup save data on PlayStation:

Go to Settings > System > Back Up and Restore. Select Back Up. Confirm which data you'd like to back up.

Thank you so much for looking into this!!! I did all possible, backing up, saving the data and even initializing my PS4, the game still won't open, I have my data saved so I will wait for any news on a possible fix, meanwhile playing from a new created Playstation account as a new player for the new map in the game

I think this may be my issue. Sent in a support ticket hopefully there's a fix soon. Game crashes during the final load screen.

Been watching my save icon like a hawk. Sometimes it blips on for a second, other times it's one for a few seconds or more.... Gets me anxious that it is going to corrupt my file again.😕

Just to keep you all informed.

We have identified the issue and we are working to implement a fix. We hope to have a fix sent off for certification soon, which will allow us to implement a patch.

This is great news! I have a great many trophies and time spent on the game which I don't want to lose because of this data corruption and crash when starting the game. I know those affected will be happy once this fix is in place.

Is this somewhat related to the save bug when the save icon keeps blinking all the time? Hope so.

Yeah. I kind of does it with me aswell because the data will corrupt because of the save bug

Just a suggestion for everyone. Years ago I turned off auto cloud upload. Just for occasions like this. I also back up my saved game on USB every now and then.

So I take it "permanently corrupted" mean it's all gone, and I need to start over.

That's my question... if the crash already happened, after the fix, will my account start or no?

So if you shut off your console while the icon is permanently on, yes, that save is gone. If you have a back up on the cloud you can download it and it should be fine... After the fix.

Also if you notice that the save icon is continually on. Go to the main menu and press "new game". This will at least save all of your trophies, but other than that you everything else will be like starting from new.

Unfortunately yes. Go into your saved data management and delete the COtW save. Then try downloading it from cloud storage. If this doesn't work, delete it from ssaved game management start the game and start a new game

Has this patch allowed anyone to open the game? Mine gave it a few extra seconds before crashing and seemed like it was able to finish logging in at least?

Great if this has been fixed! I'm able to try the game later this month so let's hope the best. Need to take my earlier saying back about the support.
