New map idea

Location: this map would be placed in Alaska with a mix of southeastern coast and arctic hills.

Potential Species:
Musk oxen (north region)
Arctic wolves (north/mid regions)
Dall sheep (north region)
Sitka blacktail (either a whole new species or a renamed blacktail deer) (south region)
Wolverine (mid/south region)
Arctic fox (north region)
Snow goose (north/mid regions)
Snowshoe hare (north region)
Moose (entire map)
Grizzly bear (entire map)
Polar bear (major range bending here) (north region)
Black bear (south region)
Harlequin duck (mid region)
Eiders (south region)
Scoters (south region)
Mountain goat (entire map)
Caribou (up for debate)
Roosevelt elk (south/mid regions)

Map layout: the map would be laid out into thirds.
The Southern third would be comprised of a more temperate environment with more foliage and rain instead of snow. There would also be more water in this part of the map since it’s somewhat based off the coast. There’s also the possibility of several islands you reach using the point to point transport boats (an interesting idea for here is having a couple be float planes since those are common in the region).
The middle third would be the smallest acting like a merger between the two main environments. This area would have a mixture of temperate and evergreen foliage. This region would have a fair few lakes and ponds which could be partially froze over or have chunks of ice in them. This region would incorporate Yukon’s snow feature where sometimes the ground has snow and sometimes it doesn’t.
Finally we have the north region. Here snow would constantly be a factor adding some difficulty in spotting the white animals which have adapted to this environment. There would be very few bodies of water compared to the other two areas and what is here would be always frozen over.

Key features:

One of the main features of this map would be a few mountains in the north and south regions. These mountains would feature the mountain goat in the south and both the mountain goat and dall sheep in the north.

Running from one of the north mountains there could be a small creek that winds its way all the way down into one of the big lakes or the “ocean” in the south. In the north it would be froze over in some places forcing animals to drink from holes broken in the ice.

If we make a whole new species for Sitka Blacktail are we really getting Blacktail. I thought the point was to add Columbia Blacktail. Sitka is quite a bit smaller then the Columbia.

Yeah something I forgot to put in my new suggestion is that the devs would probably be better off going the same reasoning as Coues not being on Rancho

honestly the more I think about it, the more rosies could possibly just be slotted into Yukon. Especially if the actual intent behind Yukon is less "Yukon region" and more "generic Alaska" and was just a probably not the best naming choice

and I would like to see a blacktail GO someday. That's not likely to happen if they stay restricted to Layton, since it's been said a few times now that one of the variables the devs are considering is how many maps the animal is on.

I like rosies and blacktail being Layton only. Maps have to have some exclusive species

@river pawn I love Roosevelt and Layton. It just gets old not having another map to enjoy the hunt on. It would just change the scenery up while hunting something you like is the main reason I would want them on another map.

I up voted for them using Columbia Blacktail not Sitka.

This was heavily influenced by classic’s whiterime so I used Sitka but either work tbh
