So I've played the update a bit now and from what I've experienced the fleeing audio clue isn't tied to an audible call. There's been a time or two I've heard a warning call as I've examined one, but I think that was just coincidence. That makes me wonder what the fleeing clue is meant to represent.

Is it the sound of the foliage as the animal bursts into a run? That seems appropriate to me, but it also makes it weird that you can tell so many details about the animal from it. To me it seems like that should be the audio equivalent of the subsurface impression or disturbed vegetation tracks, where all you can tell is the class and one other thing (in this case the approximate distance). That would be more information than we had before while also leaving a realistic amount of mystery to it.
