"Fire fox" isn't a thing. The correct term for this colour is cross, referencing the black cross over the shoulders. The cross colouration only occurs naturally in North American fox populations. In Canada and Alaska it makes up 30% of the fox population, so would be more of an uncommon than a rare. This colour does not occur naturally in Europe, however there are some populations of them in Northern Europe due to foxes escaping from fur farms and breeding with wild ones. The equivalent in Europe is the "smokey" morph, which is a fox with a yellowish tan or brownish-red base and a lot of black and grey in the coat. These foxes are pretty common in some areas of Europe but aren't really seen in North America.
Also I made the chart posted above, but it is fairly out of date as I made it 10 years ago. Currently working on a much more detailed updated one
Spoken with authority - so I trust your fox knowledge. 🦊
I think there probably should’ve been a distinction between the European and North American Red Fox in game, as they come in different morphs and look ever so slightly different in appearance. Same thing goes for Northwestern/MacKenzie Valley and Eurasian Gray Wolves (The latter being on Yukon and the former being on Medved).
I have found the elusive Fire Fox
