Like everyone is suggesting, Africa 2.0, Amani Gorge, Amani meaning peace in Swahili. I see a lot of potential with using old animal models to shape some new animals like a mountain lion to a leopard and using the new Saltwater Crocodile in Emerald Coast to have these massive Nile Crocodiles swimming in this giant river in the Gorge. I think that the map could be structured in this way. A massive canyon/gorge is running through the map and above, the gorge is luscious jungle full of more temperante animals like baboons, okapi, bongos, and red river hogs. Below, we could have a massive canyon that is a giant prairie that has a giant river running through it filled with all sorts of wildlife like Cape Buffalo, Hippos, Nile Crocodiles, and all sorts of African wildlife drinking at the river. If we could have a leopard in trees eating a springbok, you’d make my year. At the least, a trophy mount with a leopard and springbok in a tree would be epic. Amani Gorge would be a place for more of the African prairie, massive river, and African jungle, unlike the Vurhonga Savanna, which is more the small lakes and ponds of Africa as well as some prairie. 🐆

Hi @somber cliff and thank you for these detailed ideas about a new map, we surely do appreciate it, so please keep the suggestions coming.
I came from the Scottish highlands link if you could give me a somewhat definitive species list I could help you out
Species List for Amani Gorge
New species:
Leopard
Nile Crocodile
Baboon
Zebra
Bongo
Red River Hog
Bushbuck
Caracal
Eland
Hippo
Impala
Returning species:
Lion
Springbok
Lesser Kudu
Warthog
Cape buffalo
Jackal
Eurasian Widgeon
I’ll start by saying a few things: Bongo and Lesser Kudu are not found in the same habitat at all (and lesser kudu do not to share 2 maps with Springbok). Secondly Africa has a large variety of waterfowl so there is no need for Eurasian Wigeon on 2 African Reserves (the attached image is a screenshot from https://www.getducks.com/waterfowl-of-the-world/ that shows some of the waterfowl and upland birds that can be hunted in Africa).
I do have a question also: What part of Africa is this reserve supposed to be set in?
I would like to put leopard class 6 because of how dangerous they are,Lions are classed the same way
Nile Crocodile class 7
Baboon (depending on the species class 2/3 Zebra class 6
Bongo Class 6/8
Red River Hog class 4
Caracal class 2
BushBuck class 3 Eland Class 8 Hippo class 9/10 if they add 10 Impala class 4
Honestly if we are ever to receive Africa 2.0 I’d hope that they’d overhaul Vurhonga while they are at it. I’d like the next African reserve to be located in East Africa just so lesser kudu can be removed from Vurhonga (a representation of Southern Africa) and replaced with greater kudu which are actually found there. The lesser kudu can then be added to the East African reserve along side other notable East African species.
Sadly if Africa 2.0 is going to be CotW’s grand finale we are going to miss out on a lot of other amazing reserves set on the continent. I’d rather not just lump a bunch of random African species together as you suggest to make a anachronistic “Africa” map. Potentially we could have a Ethiopian highlands map focusing on the mountain nyala or a West African jungle map showcasing species such as bongo and red river hog. Africa is a very large and diverse continent with a boatload of potential.
I am in agreement with a lot of what you just said and speaking of Ethiopia there is this https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1100444674558271571
There is also a few others

Wow, thanks for sharing. These are all great concepts 😊
I explained in my original description that the map was a massive canyon/gorge and that in the center, it had a massive river and more plains animals. On the corners of the map, the upper areas of the canyon, that’s where the jungle areas are.
I was originally trying to get more of a cross in between the jungle and plains, kinda like the picture below where that section of plain is almost completely surrounded by jungle.
My dude, that area you circled kind of lines up with the Central African Republic, ||(which it is still possible to hunt there in theory, many countries do not recommend travelling there)|| and I can tell you right now the following species on your list are not found there: Zebra, Impala, Common Eland, Springbok, Lesser Kudu, Cape Buffalo (that part of Africa has the somewhat similar Central African Savannah Buffalo and the smaller Dwarf Forest Buffalo)
Understood, I was looking at it more in a way like this is a different area. In the Hunter, especially on a map like Parque Fernando, the species found their may not live in the exact same areas or be the exact subspecies, they are just their to hunt because it’s a hunting reserve. I can tell you, although blackbuck and axis deer both live in Argentina, blackbuck are a lot more north and are usually never seen with axis deer.
(I’m sorry because I forgot about the current political and war state that the central republic is going through. After you said that, I did rethink about the area I’d put it in)
Parque is not a great example though, except for pumas and migratory flocks of teal, the majority of the animals on the reserve are not indigenous to Patagonia, though devs seem to try their best to make sure that the animals would occur in the area they are setting the reserve in (with Notable exceptions unfortunately).
(And while blackbuck may not be found in some of the same areas in Argentina as axis deer, they tend to share habitat in India, where both species originate and in Texas also)
@coarse salmon I looked at your suggested Zambia, Namibia, and Eastern Cape reserves and I thought a little bit about how if we took a little bit of your structure, a little bit of mine, and did a Ethiopian reserve, it’d be the perfect map to parallel Vurhonga because it’s set in a more northern area but has a lot of diverse species similar to the ones I’ve mentioned like Baboon, Nyala, Leopards, Crocodiles, and Hippos. It also includes some species that I didn’t mention including the Ethiopian Wolf, the Elephant, the Bushbuck, and the common Eland.
My bad, didn’t realize you linked an Ethiopian reserve too. 😁
Hold on, the reason those reserves work is because they focus on one country
For my Zambian Reserve, it focuses on the Luangwa Valley and the Bangweulu Marsh
My Eastern Cape Reserve looks at being a plains game reserve with upland hunting opportunities
For the Namibian Reserve, it focuses on the vast variety of plains game that call the country home
Ethiopia focuses on the species that are unique to it
As far as I am concerned, I would rather see several more African reserves instead of lumping a whole bunch of ideas into one anachronistic “reserve”
Also side note
- EW have stated many times that Elephants won’t happen
- Ethiopian Wolves are Endangered and are known as the most endangered carnivore in Africa
I would honestly prefer to get another Alaskan or Arctic map first, then get some trophy mount updates, then maybe get another Africa map, then maybe get another European map and so on.
That's right, Argentina is a bad example to set up a reserve, in that country you can bring species from anywhere in the world to set up a "hunting reserve" without any problem xD
Agreed
They might as well just done a “Texas Reserve” and put a bunch on imported species on it like Axis deer, Feral animals, oryx etc.
