I know a lot of people have made posts about backfilling, but I decided to make a new post anyway in order to compile a comprehensive list of existing species that I'd personally like to see added to the existing maps. Please note that I'm not going to mention anything for Vurhonga because that map would be better suited to the addition of new species, not any existing ones. So, here's the species I'd like to see backfilled onto each reserve. I'll explain my choices in detail in the thread below.

European Mouflon, Chamois, Western Capercaillie, Eurasian Teal and Tufted Duck (Hirschfelden)
Red Fox, Green-Winged Teal, Mountain Goat, Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Lion (Layton Lake)
Black Grouse and Hazel Grouse (Medved Taiga)
Fallow Deer and Wild Boar/Feral Pig (Parque Fernando)
Black Bear and Willow Ptarmigan (Yukon Valley)
Fallow Deer (Cuatro Colinas)
Coyote, Ring Necked Pheasant, Cinnamon Teal and White-Tailed Jackrabbit (Silver Ridge Peaks)
Canada Goose, Sambar Deer (Te Awaroa)
Gray Fox (Rancho Del Arroyo)
Mallard and Bobcat (Mississippi Acres)
Roe Deer (Revontuli Coast)
Canada Goose (New England Mountains)
Water Buffalo and European Rabbit (Emerald Coast)

Regarding Hirschfelden, theHunter Classic's version of it has Capercaillie, so for the sake of continuity, I'd like to see them on Hirschfelden in COTW. Some ducks would be nice too, and it would be nice if the Eurasian Teal and Tufted Duck were added there so that players could hunt more waterfowl species on the base game maps.

#

For Layton, I figured that it would be nice to have another map to hunt Mountain Goat and Mountain Lion, and heck, why not throw in Red Fox too? The Mountain Goats would only be in the high elevation areas in the northern, western and eastern areas of the map. Mountain Lions would be found in small numbers in these same mountainous areas (we don't need there to be a lot of them, since they spook other animals). Layton's mountains feel a bit empty currently, so this would help them to seem a bit more lively.

#

As for Medved, I think more upland game birds would help to add a little bit more life to the snowy forests. It would also be really nice to have another map for hunting Black Grouse and Hazel Grouse. Since both species can be found in Siberia, why not add them to Medved?

#

For Parque, it was difficult to find any existing species that would fit on the map, but there are introduced populations of Fallow Deer in Argentina. Also, both pure-blooded European Wild Boars and domestic pigs that have escaped and become feral can be found in Argentina.

#

Black Bear and Willow Ptarmigan were obvious choices for Yukon Valley, since both are common and widespread in Alaska. I didn't choose to include Roosevelt Elk on this list because they're limited to a few islands off the coast of southern Alaska.

#

Fallow Deer live in Spain and can be hunted there, like most of Europe. I think they're the obvious choice for Cuatro.

#

There's a lot of possibilities for SRP, but I specifically chose these three species because Coyotes are an icon of the American West, and the Cinnamon Teal and White-Tailed Jackrabbit are both only on one map currently. The map also has far more big game than small game currently, so some more small animals would add some good variety.

#

Canada Goose are the best choice for both New England Mountains and Te Awaroa. NEM is in their native range, and they've been introduced to New Zealand.

#

Gray Fox would be a good choice for Rancho because their range includes most of Mexico.

#

Mallard and Bobcat would both be good choices for Mississippi, although I'd personally try to keep the Bobcat numbers pretty low because we already have Alligators to spook off other animals. I would assume that the gators would spook the Bobcats too, since a gator is much bigger than a Bobcat.

#

And finally, Roe Deer on Revontuli because I want another map for hunting them and I think Revontuli could benefit from having another deer species.

Just added Green-Winged Teal to the Layton suggestions because I think Layton could definitely benefit from another waterfowl species

I think raccoon should be a backfill species for Hirschfelden. Back in the 1900s they were brought over to Germany (where Hirsch is located) to “diversify the ecosystem” but ended up running rampant. It became such a problem that the government gave out rewards for every raccoon killed and ppl were killing up to 500 raccoons per day.
The issue isn’t nearly as bad in the present but they could still implement them since they’re still around.

Upvoting for white-tailed jackrabbit on another map because holy crap, hunting them on Layton is so annoying and I just want to make a damn multimount

I’d love to get a few duck species on Hirschfelden, but western capercaille should stay away. Raccoons would be possible but I’d rather have something else.

Te Aweroa would benefit from Roosevelt Elk aka Wapiti as they're called here being in a small population on the map as they are essentially the biggest potential trophies available in NZ. They're a ballot only hunting option which could be reflected in the smaller population in maybe a single region on the map

#

Or alternatively a new species of Wapiti/Red crossbreed could be developed as they're quite common now also

@ocean monolith That map would be insane if it had Go fallow, Go red deer and Go Roosevelt Elk.

I decided to add the Pheasant to the SRP section because I would like to be able to hunt them on more maps.

I came up with two more potential backfillable animals for Hirschfelden:
European Mouflon and Chamois.

The European Mouflon would just be a renamed version of the Iberian Mouflon from Cuatro. This species would probably be found all over Hirschfelden, because Mouflon have a wide range throughout Germany (where Hirschfelden is located). Below is a picture of a European Mouflon. As I'm sure you can tell, it's basically identical to the Mouflon we have on Cuatro.

The Chamois can be found in the Bavarian Alps of southern Germany, and Hirschfelden seems to be surrounded by the Bavarian Alps (based on various in-game clues). Bohndorf Hill in the northwestern region of the map is high enough that I could see the Chamois living there, similar to the areas where they live on Te Awaroa.

Give Yukon a variet of the Willow Ptarmigan,Called the Winter Willow Ptarmigan common furs would be Molting and White instead of Molting and Bicolor, because at that point in time Most of the summer and spring feathers would be gone

I mean, maybe. But aren't Yukon and Revontuli basically set during the same season? They're both located in the boreal forest and both have autumn foliage (at least in some areas in Yukon's case), so clearly, both are based in Fall. Because of that, I really doubt that the differences in terms of ptarmigan plumage would really be all that drastic realistically.

So yeah, Yukon Valley and Revontuli are definitely based during the same general time of the year, so there really wouldn't be a significant difference in terms of the ptarmigans' plumage

Ptarmigan Continuously molt Apr to Nov so by the time of mid August.By early August they have grown most white feathers

#

But either way I’d like to see them in more white rather than bicolor on Yukon

I updated my original suggestion to reflect the new addition of the Emerald Coast map. I think the new Sambar Deer would be a worthwhile addition to Te Awaroa, specifically the western side of the map alongside the Sika Deer.

I also think that Water Buffalo should be added to Emerald Coast Australia and I explained why here:

Added European Rabbits to the list of species for Emerald Coast backfilling. Euro Rabbits are very common in Australia and I'm surprised that they aren't already on the map.
