#More user control of install size

At the time of writing COTW takes up 74Gb of disc space, this goes up incrementally annually as (primarily) new reserves are released. Looking over reddit and steam discussions the game used to be ~40Gb three years ago and close to half of that in the beginning when the game was launched.

Granted, it is lovely that in multiplayer one can play on a reserve that one has not acquired oneself as long as the host has it but for those who only play in single player this adds needlessly to the install size. AFAIK the updating process is more or less so that when something has updated atleast on console the whole game is re-downloaded, perhaps not so on PC. For me download time is not an issue as I have a quite fast broadband but I do have limited HDD/SDD space.

Along with other QOL updates such as the weapons wheel and whatnot I'd feel that the ability for the user to either opt-in (or at the very least the ability to opt-out) regarding new reserves would help alot by one only downloading what is wanted or needed. A new COTW player who only tries out the game would then only need the essential files to get started on the default Hirshchfelden & Layton maps of the base game.

As for full disclosure, I got COTW in 2021 when I was about to in real life join moose hunts and I find it an excellent simulator that helps tremendously with shot placement on deer (and yes I do spend time in real life on a range shooting moving cardboard moose but the game complement that training by a great margin*), thus it makes me a better end more ethical hunter IRL. I play it on a medium or rather low-end gaming computer I got so my kids would have something to game with. I do have a couple of DLC reserves, not all of them but a few.

Thank you for your time.

*) especially since cartridge prices have gone through the roof as of late, a box of 50 308Win FMJ used to retail for 50€ but nowadays a box goes for 65€ or more 😱
