Summary of the Reserve

  • Two-thirds of the reserve is dominated by a mixture of both dry and moist forest, the final third is dominated by agricultural areas
  • The Dry Forest area is a mix of open canopied dry forest and thorn scrub, animals like Yucatan Grey Brocket and Chachalaca call it home
  • The Jungle area is where you can expect to find species like Peccary, Agouti and many birds. It can be dense in some areas and a shotgun is recommended. Do be wary though as Jaguars also hunt in these jungles.
  • The agricultural areas often sees many species raiding it, and the Coyote has been seen here and continue to grow their population here.
  • The reserve is also dotted with lakes, ponds and creeks, which often attract waterfowl like Blue-winged Teal & Muscovy Duck.
  • Mangroves and Coastal Areas are the best place to go if your hunting the American Crocodile or wish to do some waterfowl hunting over brackish water
  • There is a Mayan Temple, and no you cannot climb it, but you can take pictures of it

You're absolutely brilliant at making a map suggestions!! I love each one of them!! If you can, could you make a post about an Amazon Rainforest map in South America, that's like one of my dream maps to get added, would really appreciate it, and the community will love it too, Thanks!! 👍🏻

I would love to hunt armadillos just in general ... I hate those things ....

I don't think people are really prepared for what hunting in the jungles would be like ... that is if EW does it real to life

I'm talking hypothetically as a story line to explain why a hunter is allowed to hunt in the region ....

I'd love to see ocellated turkey in game and this seems like the perfect map for them. I like it

Occasional .303 for deer, the reason I don’t say .30-06 is because Yucatán and Red Brocket are primarily, to put it into words, feeble bodied. Fast but if you get bucked by one it’s no worries.

As someone who loves small game, this looks like a fun reserve

This seems like it would be a really cool place to hunt.

Well I do have an idea for a weapon that could go with this reserve: A 410 Revolving Shotgun (took me long enough)
And to make it more appealing it will come with 2 new ammo types

  • 410 Turkey Shot: A class 1 birdshot designed to hunt turkeys
  • 410 Slugs: A class 2-4 ammo for hunting the many jungle animals
  • It can also shoot regular 410 birdshot
  • Scope wise it will be able to mount the Shotgun Scope
I will still figure out a rifle and a combination gun for this reserve (or I could take inspiration from the Peruvian Reserve and include a blowgun, who knows)

As for a Rifle, this is what I have decided on for this reserve: 6mm Pump-action Rifle

  • Calibre: 6mm Remington
  • Class 2-6
  • Ammo Capacity: 5+1
  • Based on: Remington Model 760
  • Zeroing: 50, 100 & 150 Meters

This would be amazing. As a Brazilian naturalist, this is the closer that I’d get to the environment that I go out to. Seeing brocket deer in game would blow my mind, same goes to the thicket tinamou. Here, there is a strong connection between tinamous and the culture of traditional and indigenous people. They are extremely skittish birds. I like to describe them as ghosts of our forests, we hear their beautiful voices all the time, but very rarely see one.

I am bumping this up as since the tigers have been added to the game I think I could potentially add a couple more big game species but this would still be a small game focused reserve

rich dust
#

So I added Baird's Tapir and Jaguar as a pair of rare species that can be encountered throughout the reserve. There would be just as many jaguars as there is tigers on Sundarpatan and likewise the Tapirs would have a low population. The Jaguars would naturally be the more dangerous of the two but only a fool would underestimate a cornered Tapir

#

As for a few other additional species I will probably add some additional small game animals and birds. As for the Big Game species I am considering both the Morelet's Crocodile & the larger American Crocodile but at the moment its a matter of figuring out weather I should choose between the two species or find a way to include both species and just make sure they live in different parts of the reserve

Fun fact about American Crocodiles: They used to live as far north as the Colorado River Delta and they used to live in the Sea of Cortez until the last few died out in the early 1900s, meaning that these crocodiles not only interacted with the now extinct Mexican Grizzly Bear, they could easily have wound up in the part of Sonora where Rancho del Arroyo is set (https://www.tumblr.com/fatehbaz/187082582259/fatehbaz-fatehbaz-so-crocodiles-lived-in).

I have decided to add a few more species to the list of species

For Big Game Animals I decided to include both the Morelet's Crocodile and the American Crocodile. The Morelet's Crocodile (first image) would be the more common species with any large body of water possibly being home to several crocodiles. The American Crocodile (second image) would be another rare species that is exclusive to the recently added Mangroves and Coastal Areas.
The White-lipped Peccary is the other Big Game Species that was added

For Small Game and Birds I have added the following

  • Northern Tamandua
  • Ocelot
  • Yucatan Black Howler
  • Black Spiny-tailed Iguana
  • Muscovy Duck
  • Lesser Scaup
