Summary of the Reserve
- Two-thirds of the reserve is dominated by a mixture of both dry and moist forest, the final third is dominated by agricultural areas
- The Dry Forest area is a mix of open canopied dry forest and thorn scrub, animals like Yucatan Grey Brocket and Chachalaca call it home
- The Jungle area is where you can expect to find species like Peccary, Agouti and many birds. It can be dense in some areas and a shotgun is recommended. Do be wary though as Jaguars also hunt in these jungles.
- The agricultural areas often sees many species raiding it, and the Coyote has been seen here and continue to grow their population here.
- The reserve is also dotted with lakes, ponds and creeks, which often attract waterfowl like Blue-winged Teal & Muscovy Duck.
- Mangroves and Coastal Areas are the best place to go if your hunting the American Crocodile or wish to do some waterfowl hunting over brackish water
- There is a Mayan Temple, and no you cannot climb it, but you can take pictures of it
