I did do the COTW survey yesterday and one question was, whats your opinion about hunting endangered animals.

In my eyes, there s no difference between huntin red deer or elephants virtually.

I thought about how it could be implemented to the game to hunt such endangered animals and prevent to see elepant massakers on youtube by players who grinding them to the bone.

IDEA:
the player needs a license to hunt such animals and he will be punished if he shoots them without one.

Lets say, you pay 10K for to shoot one elephant and will be punished for 20K if you shoot one illegally.

That would bring some another endgame content to the game and will make the players to treat this animals with some respect and think twice before shooting them.

what do you think?

Buying a 10k license should trigger an event of some kind maybe showing you a circle of where your endangered species will be give it some background information as your walking over there the warden will be explaining why you are doing the culling,I’ll use the African bush elephant as an example the Warden of vurhonga explains to you“Grandson, there’s a Big Old Bull elephant hogging the food and driving away younger males,I will put it up to you to cull the old male”.

I think the price tag should be 100k if one is shot illegally. Other then that I think its the best way to do it

Tags have already been suggested before as a possible way to control the indiscriminate killing of endangered species... So I am in favor of this approach but 10k for an elephant tag is not nearly enough when you have grinders who already have millions in the bank ....

Shooting endangered species is not hunting, they are not game species and this is a hunting simulator

# charred canyon They already have endangered species in the game with Iberian Wolves

An endangered species is an animal at risk of disappearing from nature, taking into account all the countries where it lives, when an animal falls into this category it is added to the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). and a list of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) an international treaty UNO, whose purpose is to ensure that international trade in this species does not threaten its survival in its natural environment. The treaty offers several degrees of protection, whether it is the issuance of transfer and collection certificates or a total prohibition of trade in the species. Once on this list, the animals cease to be game animals since the laws cannot regulate their hunting, only protect them.

I would like there to be cars circulating on the roads of the game to be able to hunt one and taxidermiate it, but they are not game species.
Who wouldn't want a Camaro Coupé on show at their Trophy Lodge? 🤣

But the Black Bear is not endangered, the one that is is the Louisiana Black Bear (Ursus americanus luteolus) a subspecie.
The main reason for the ban is because there is no way to tell them apart with the naked eye, there is no guarantee that a common Black Bear or a Louisiana black bear will be hunted, and being nomads do not have a habitat area where they can be protected.
The species we have in the game is the common Black Bear (Ursus americanus)

There is not much to do about that, as long as they are game species, a player can hunt them however he wants, after all he is a hunter with a hunting license xD

This is an arcade game where you can also hunt, lets be real
Its not a big deal if an endangered species is huntable

What about hunting humans? They aren't endangered.

I think you shouldn’t be able to shoot fe an elephant, when you don’t have the license. It should say invalid target.

While I can distinguish between computer game and reality, I would rather see a new gameplay mechanic introduced for endangered species.

Many of the background stories (missions) treat you as the reserve warden, I.e. you care for the animals.
How about introducing tranquilizers to the game, so that you shoot endangered animals in oder to care for them (medically treat them, relocate them, …). If you kill an endangered species animal, you would get no trophy score (similarly to the „grounded“ status for pheasants).
You could introduce new but probably not too different gameplay mechanics and at the same time honour the ethical attitude even for endangered species.
