Tents on Multiplayer (ghosted maps) seem to disappear (they don't come back to your inventory). I lost a couple of them and couldn't find them on my SP maps.

This happened to me but I fond them on my maps off multiplayer if this makes sense

Yes, you can actually place as many tents as you want on your map with this method

Spoke to another player he has the same isuses missing tents form his inventory after placing them down when on multiplayer.
I told him to check his own map as the he confirmed there was no tents on his map and missing from inventory.
Tip for quick fix is to only have one tent when playing online and to pick up after using I wold say the same for other things u can place down just in case..

Look in storage. Mine go back in storage when I leave someone elses' map.
