Because “grinders” need a real challenge for theHunter: Grinding for Great Ones, may I suggest introducing the Northern Bobwhite Quail Great One? While they look the same as the common plumage variation the birds already have, players can still encounter this majestic bird in many exciting variants. The standout feature of this Great One is its ability to manifest on both male and female birds with equal likelihood. To ensure an engaging and gratifying gameplay experience, the Bobwhite Quail Great One only spawns after players have reached an impressive 7,000 to 10,000 kills. This threshold is necessary because of the need for an element of surprise and the added excitement “grinders” will feel when they finally encounter this elusive creature, especially if they happen to stumble upon an ultra-rare variant such double metal leg bands or the coveted "beer can pull-tab" version.

Appearance/Variations:

Variant 1: red leg band (70%)
Variant 2: green leg band (20%)
Variant 3: blue and white leg bands, same leg (5%)
Variant 4: green and yellow leg bands, different legs (3%)
Variant 5: single metal leg band (1%)
Variant 6: double metal leg bands, same leg (0.8%)
Variant 7: foot/leg caught in a beer can pull-tab (0.2%)

And best of all, there is already a multimount that can be used to show off your achievement! Just imagine having both a Bobwhite Quail and a moose Great One together in one mount in your lodge!

😝 🤣

You’re two days late for an April fools joke

The fact that nobody would ever be able to get one

Ah, but that is what they said about the GO black bear. All it takes is commitment, lots of tents and stands, time, and a lucky random number to come up. Perfectly do-able with enough kills.

Imagine someone gets an initial spawn one ☠️

fierce echo

Can’t based on the way he says they spawn. If everything here happens you’ll have to have a minimum 7k kills before it can spawn

brisk geyser
#

Well let’s assume it has the same spawn rate as all the other GOs. Means you could get it as an initial spawn

#

Because why should they spend time and effort making new models and such if only a dedicated few can get it? Wouldn’t exactly be fair for the casual player now would it

fierce echo
#

Only a few casual players would ever get this (if any) even if they could spawn like a normal GO. Bobwhite are already hard to find and even harder to grind so only the hardcore players would have a decent chance of getting one

Why should any great ones be this stupendously rare? EW has made several amazing looking and unique models but over 90% of the player base will never encounter one ingame. The problem isn’t with grinders, it’s with the way EW set it up

Either way, bobwhite will probably never happen

Not for a while at least, though I wonder when the first DLC animal GO will happen

Probably after fallow

Call of the wild was never about grinding back during the days of Fooster making vids ... now certain content creators made it into grinding by advertising it 😔

The problem is that really rare animals, such as albino quail, hybrid greylag geese and great ones are pretty much unattainable by the casual player unless they get stupendously lucky. They should be made more attainable without just straight up upping the spawn rate

This is almost giving them more rares to get before albino lol but I would kill to have this on mallard

The bobwhite albino rn is about 1 in 18k so basically a great one

This is the dumbest idea ever

I'm fully in favor of adding GO quail using this simple but effective way of colored bands on the legs... However they would also need to back fill Layton Lakes with quail so that they are not gated. Quail are in fact very prevalent in the N West corner of the US ... A species of California quail can be found there in abundance.
