#Grounded Mechanic Fix

Shooting a quail or pheasant up in the air, as you’re supposed to and picking it up only to find out it was somehow grounded has become extremely frustrating.

The bird should not be grounded if it’s still well up in the air. It seems what’s causing this issue is the millisecond the landing animation starts the game registers the bird as grounded. People have lost diamonds to this, it’s annoying. If there is a way to have the game register the bird as grounded once they’re on the ground and not above it, after the landing animation has completed, please make it so.

Regards, someone who really wants an albino quail.

Personally I wait until the animal is in horizontal flight animation to shoot it because it seems more challenging that way, but i agree whit you, only the animations of the animal standing on the ground should be classified as such, that would avoid a lot of problems

@inland gate didn’t you lose a diamond ptarmigan to this bug?

That I did. Didn't realize she was L3 because I didn't get a chance to spot her.

Wish I could say something relevant to keep this forum up top but I’ve got nothing lol, I’ve already said everything I need to about this frustrating mechanic

Bumping this because getting a grounded bird while it's still in the air is the most annoying thing

bumping with this...would not be opposed to this mechanic being outright removed

I do like the mechanic, but fixing it so that the birds are only counted when they are on the ground is a great idea

I forgot this thread existed xD

Precisely. I think once the landing animation starts the game kinda understands “okay it’s doing the animation that ends with it being grounded” but forgets to wait until the animation is over to count it as grounded

...how is this one grounded...?

only a female but yeah- I've hated this mechanic since it was added, I'd honestly be 100% okay with it being removed entirely, its so finicky :/
shot her well WELL above my head, but i guess she turned to landing right as i shot

I don't think it should be removed, as long as it functions properly, it's a really fun and engaging game mechanic

honestly upland birds in general need some AI fixes. They spook from 100+ meters away and fly in the opposite direction half the time, instead of hunkering down until you get close like they're supposed to

I didn't say it's currently functioning properly, I meant if they can fix it, I'd prefer it not be removed
