#True spur and True beard for turkeys
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Please this out of everything that evolves animals score this is the one I want the most
This would be pretty cool. I know some places keep weight records also. I've never weighed a thunder chicken either though.
And see you can also have females with beards and on the extremely rare chance you could have female diamonds depending on how they do the scoring
Female Diamond turkey could be one of the more saw after trophies in the game
The playable Jaxy character should also have TruBeard™️
It grows 1/2 inch every diamond kill up to a certain length.
Also possible to have a double bearded tom as well ... Maybe save the double beards for the GO
Only seen doubles ... did not know they could even have triples
👀

Would love to have a mount like that in game .... If I saw that IRL I'm not sure I could even shoot straight
Yuup
Add the spurs and they could come up with some truly unique trophies
This
This is all we need
This is how all turkeys shot are scored
Weight x 2x beard x 10x spur
Then each turkey and score would be unique
@neat prawn
Lets call this new scoring system TruTom ...
Lol
Yes! This would be so awsome! It would also be great if we could get different bear sizes, along with anything else that doesn't have antlers or horns
We have turkeys on so many maps now including one starter map. Can we say GO yet? Sure but first we need this scoring system added ....
It's a higher possible now
Maybe the GO turkey could be an Ocellated Turkey since they didn't put it on Rancho.
No, they don’t even live in the same area as any of the other turkeys and I am glad they went with Rio Grandes for Rancho
Yeah I'm aware they don't live in any of the areas of the other turkeys since we don't have a Yucatan Peninsula map. Pretty sure the Goulds Turkeys are in the Sonara Desert not Rio's but we don't have those either in game. Just thought it would be a cool way to have them in game and i do realize its not realistic. I haven't seen any half white moose running around either irl.
We can totally have a Great One Turkey without using an Ocellated Turkey, and given that Merriam’s and Eastern are on multiple maps, with the former now being on Laytons, I just feel it would be more bizarre to see a jungle dwelling bird in the Pacific Northwest then a half-white moose which is itself a bizarre sight.
I get that. I'd love to see all species of turkey at some point and have a Turkey Slam mutimount along with getting the NA sheep species on the right maps and have a sheep slam multimount.
I agree, a Florida map for Osceola Turkey would allow us a second Alligator map and potentially some invasive species like Green Iguana and Muscovy Ducks. If Texas is chosen for Gould’s Turkey that would allow for some exotics (2-4 at most, but thats me) and Ocellated would get a dedicated reserve that would have dense jungle areas (not the whole reserve though) that would also have their own unique white-tail deer
A jungle map with Ocellated Turkeys would be so cool, and there's a lot of other species that they could do for that as well. Ocelot, Brocket Deer, etc.
I’m pretty certain Ocelots are off limits in Mexico, but yes there would be a lot of cool jungle species to hunt
I'd have to do some more research on that. I know they have Ocelots in southern Mexico, I'm just not sure if they can be hunted anywhere.
From my limited research the only country they could he hunted in is Peru, which also happens to have unique waterfowl and white-tail deer up in the mountains
Add this scoring system for turkeys
Lots of reserves have Turkeys now ... we need this
Indeed
Need I say more?
I'd love this And would technically be the first non horned/antlered(I'm probably wrong) species to get a "trurac" would be very interesting and would make turkeys more unique
It would be
Hoping this would bring about Trusize and Tusk for hogs and Peccary
This is an absolutely fantastic suggestion. I was really looking at the turkeys the other day and just wasn't feeling them
we need this too
And make them a more realistic size especially for the diamonds and golds. We out here shooting baby hogs saying they dimes
Honestly.I get the females being that size but males, and saying they weigh 400 pounds…
Yea tiny
Yes to be scored on beard size, this needs to be in cotw awsome suggestion
Lol
Multibeards would be sweet too, as they're not all that rare in turkeys.
need this
Amazing idea
I'm the biggest turkey hunter on the game
I have no problem with the turkey model, or the feed, and resting times but the male turkeys(gobblers) should gobble when you use the crow call to locate them, which is what they do irl.
I also think the turkeys need to be made where they can't pick up the players scent in the wind because irl turkeys can't actually smell.
Yall ever seen a bearded hen
From my experience, scent means little to nothing to these noisy bowling balls of the forest. 😏
They can be very entertaining to watch!

I saw two in one field once
Beards and spurs imagine the possibilities .... 162
It would be cool to have birds with multiple beards and what not, but more decoy poses, some new call designs (box, slate, etc.), a .410 turkey gun, and TSS shot for all gauges would be great. Make the TSS work for Class 1-2, as well. Perfect for close foxes, coyotes, etc.
Add this feature and it may be time for us to also talk about GO Turkeys. They are already on the base game..... Current world record is > 23" on spur length and 22" on beard length. Reserve the longer triple beards and the longest spurs > 23" for the GO's
I also don't think you should be able to shoot them with .22's
My recommendation would be to make them and other upland birds class 0.
Then change Birdshot to be class 0-1 while keeping .22 ammo at just class 1.
My dream ask is to also give us a reason to aim for the turkeys head like irl rather than just carelessly blasting them in the chest.
We got this 💪
Tree Beard?! Are we attacking Isengard?
G1 Turkey be a triple bearded Turkey 👀
.... We can dream cant we?? First True Tom scoring .... Then maybe even G1 one day?
I've seen some turkeys irl that would for sure be a GO
The next feathered Great One for sure, give the turkeys some love
Would love to see Turkey G1 but not before TruTom Scoring ....
Spurs & Beards Oh My!!!
TruTom Scoring Weight + 2x beard len + 10x spur len means every bird will be unique ...
If a bird has Multiple beards you add the lengths of all the beards together X 2
Actually depending on the rarity of multi beard birds and the max length of spurs you really wouldn't need to make a fantasy G1 bird .... TruTom ®️ would create its own G1's ....
Yeah
In honor of American Thanksgiving .... Kill a Turkey .... If you support indigenous Americans then use a bow .... I would be more thankful if we had TruTom scoring 😉
I would be very Thankful if we got TruTom scoring ( Weight + 2x beard len + 10x spur len )
Curiosity: The Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, and Slovenia are the European countries where introduced wild turkeys are legally hunted.
So turkey could be one. The new map is what your saying
TrueBeard? Tree Beard? The Ents are going to war?
Turkey Hunters !!! Where yall at???
Just think of all the unique trophy variations??? And No drink zones !!!
It does bug me that Turkeys arent properly scored and they should include better mounts as well. & for pete sake EW give us turkey shells 🙏
So much potential with turkeys
Agreed.
Thanks for the Pin King!! Three Toms for you 🦃 🦃 🦃
better scoring for turkey bump
Also make the Eastern turkeys bigger (weight), they're significantly bigger than the other sub-species
It's opening day of turkey of season for me. I sprinted around the property with my bright red .22 and wasn't able to find any flocks just standing around waiting for me to plink them from 200 yards away? Did Cotw lie to me? 😭
😭
The arrangement of the tail feathers needs to be corrected; they don't have to be fanned out like a fan.
There are three juvenile wild turkeys whose tail fans are uneven in shape, their beards are shorter, and their spurs are less developed. They are known as jakes.
Turkeys could have so much potential
Really there would be no need to have a turkey G1 if they would just add TruTom (True Spur & True Beard with Multi-beards) ....
If they added TruTom Turkeys would automatically have a built in G1 probability ..... 292
I would like to see Jakes (male wild turkeys level 1) added to COTW.
This would be the most realistic G1 of all .... Randomize the birds weight, beard and spur lengths .... Some birds will be considered atypical and could have multi beards ... Add the length of all the beards together .....
Final score is weight + (beard length x 2 ) + (spur length x 10 )
No need to make fantastical designs just let the numbers determine the true G1 Turkey ....
Need this in the game
Turkey Locator Owl Hooter Call
This change would take Turkey Hunting over the Top .... Do this right and top scoring birds would be natural great ones .....
Celebrating all the upvotes counts as bumping. Please don't!
Not celebrating ... using it primarily to mark the date when it was last moved up for more discussion .... Trying to keep my feedback posts to only being moved up once a week ...
But If doing this is not allowed under any circumstances then I will discontinue the practice .....
No, bumping is not allowed, bumping is defined as posting in a thread only to push it to the top
Wait, bumping's no longer allowed? Ah hell, that's on me for bumping a thread recently I didn't know that was a new rule
Honestly, the models should be on the free range Heritage breeds, not the mass produced factory breeds that can't stand on their own legs. I think that's what is shown there, but the weights should reflect much closer to them than factory birds. Give me a muzzleloading fowling piece and I'd have a field day GO turkey hunting on NEM. 😂
Plumage Appearance is an important factor for The Great One. The Grinders like it, but only Beard and Spur don’t attract much attention because they are elements that don't completely change the appearance.
Heritage breeds can be all of those plumage types they just dont weigh as much as meat birds
It’s a fun fact. I imagine it couldn’t even walk or fly with that weight. The average mass of a domestic turkey is 13.5 kilograms (29.8 pounds). Just 5 more pounds would be perfect for The Great One.
I think that's what's agreeable about the Heritage breeds is that they're a nice compromise between the ultra realistic record book wild birds and the super fat chemically enhanced "Butterball" factory birds. They're heavier than the wild diamonds, but distinct enough to stand out without looking like a fantasy creature.
