#Poor hit registration, aka. "shooting blanks"

The author of the original thread on this has been perma-banned (with their comments deleted) so I decided to make another thread to shed some light on this topic.

Numerous players have been reporting 'blanks', i.e. weapon performance as if there is no bullet in the cartridge. Often met with adversity from certain other players with an assumption that they simply lack the skill to aim their shots.

So I'm going to start this conversation with my old clip of a 'blank shot', where a keen eye will notice there is no shot reaction or blood from this moose. I believe this is one of the few 'blank shots' actually posted to the discord as video footage.

The issue may be tied to hit registration. At least in some cases, a portable blind, hunting stands, sheds, or simply the ground or a rock that stops your bullet.

It might be a tall order to ask EW to fix this, but I hope we can at least agree that this exists now.

He is prone to the ground on a rock, although the vision shows that the canyon is actually unobstructed if it is, it is only really seen when viewed from another player's perspective in multi..
It happens since the game was released, it's a problem with the rendering of the engine, there is no way to know which rock can be shot without problem

I had this happen 4 times this weekend on the New England map. It has only been happening on moose so far though

I agree this is probably hit registration .... Something that we cant see is obstructing the shot ... It does seem to happen more when prone . But it needs to be fixed ...

Ive had it happen in caribou moose and a few white tail while bow hunting

Mine since update has been going click but no bang on a few guns. 454 especially. Can happen 2 out of the 5 rounds. I fire it goes click nothing I fire again it fires. Not good when wolf hunting.

Thank you. Totally a lucky shot though, I have to admit. I was going for double lung and tbh I'm surprised at how much lead I needed for the bullet travel at this distance. 😅

I also struggled to even get the crosshairs on target with the super slow aim sensitivity in low zoom. (this game doesn't scale aim sensitivity right).
