#Sound and Background Attenuation when Aiming Down Sight

The recent addition of extreme background sound attenuation while ADS or in binoculars changes the way I approach the game, and it takes away from the immersion/natural flow of it all. The nature sounds stop altogether and our player's footsteps aren't audible at all when it's active.

Is there any plan to make this attenuation optional? Or at least be able to adjust the intensity of it?

I wouldn't think turning the attenuation off to be any sort of advantage in multiplayer or competitive settings, so I'm wondering why it isn't optional.

I'd like to also add that an option to reduce the sounds of menu actions, or change them to something more natural, would be great as well. I like to use the dog a lot, but accessing the different commands repeatedly, with this very high-frequency radial-selection sound, can be hard on the ears.

They need to change the ambiance of most maps completely, silver ridge peaks and verhonga are eerily quite.

Actually maybe not hearing footsteps while ADS was a temporary bug, because I'm hearing them now 🤔

the sounds in Medved seem really messy. I can stand near bushes, hearing something inside bushes, do a lap of bushes, footsteps are contained within the bushes, but the closest animal is 150m away. and a lot of the maps, you can hear a deer chewing grass a few meters away, but its actually 2 hills away. its like the sounds just totally dissociate from the source and anchor right next to the player. and as mentioned above, losing audio when using binos is just . not . natural

Actually movement sounds go away while prone and ADS I realized... @dusk cedar any particular reason for the thumbs down on this one?

It’s not a bad suggestion on paper but I, for one, do appreciate that kind of, for lack of a better term, focused state while ADSing. It can help me single out sounds while hunting, such as footsteps or the sound of ducks flying in before I can spot them. It’s more of a “don’t fix what ain’t broke” situation

I'm actually with you there! But sometimes I just want to keep the ambiance, or at least adjust the level of attenuation to my liking. I didn't feel like it was broken before they "fixed" it a couple months ago 😅
