I think this would be an interesting and unique species to add to the game. The groundhog, also known as the woodchuck, is a species of marmot that is native to woodlands and plains throughout North America. A common critter in the eastern United States, it is often hunted because it can be a nuisance animal. The groundhog has burrows, similar to the European Rabbits. However, unlike the European Rabbits, groundhogs would be solitary in the game. They would emerge from their burrows around dawn and dusk.

This species would be found in fields and along the edges of woodlands, on both New England Mountains and Mississippi Acres. It would be common and widespread on those two maps. This would probably be a Class 1 species, and the best way to hunt groundhogs would be to ambush them at their burrows when they emerge from them.

This species would also have the potential for some unique new multimounts. Maybe there could be a new small multimount with a Coyote, Red Fox, or a Bobcat stalking or attacking a Groundhog, because all of those species have been known to prey on groundhogs. There could also be a multimount with a Groundhog encountering a male Whitetail Deer, since both of those species largely live in the same habitats in eastern North America.

I think this would be a unique species and a fun one to hunt. As someone who has hunted them in real life, I'd really love to be able to hunt them in COTW too!
