Traditional bows have not received a lot of attention in a while. But there are plenty of players using the Recurve and Longbow and there is room for improvement.
One of my main complaints is that the broadheads on the medium weight arrows (as pictured) are far too thick, and thus obscure the view of the target.
I believe these arrows are a remnant from way back when the aiming of tradbows was "instinctive style" and you had to aim with an imaginary point in the air beside the bow.
I'm very glad the developers changed this to a "gap shooting" style where the tip of the arrow is essentially your iron sights, but these particular arrows and their broadheads should be changed to fit the purpose.
In addition to that, I've discovered that the Pumping Iron perk, which is supposed to give additional kinetic energy to arrows through extended draw length, does not work on the traditional bow arrows. This is an important part of the archery perk tree and undoubtedly supposed to be a redeeming feature for traditional bows.
To make matters worse, at level 1 of the perk it actually removes kinetic energy (by lowering the velocity) from the medium arrow for some reason. I have attempted to file a ticket about this bug but I got a copy/paste response about reinstalling my game.
Then there is the actual 'zeroing' of the 'sights' for the weapon. IMO the whole bow/arrow system should be offset downwards on the screen, or adjust the trajectory upwards slightly so we can actually see what we're shooting at. See TheHunter Classic for a good comparison.
I'd also like to address the class ratings. There is no good reason for the heavy and light arrows to only cover two classes each. There have been other forum posts about that subject.
Thank you, and sorry for yet another wall of text.
