Please let us filter map objects and primarily zone markers. Let us view zone markers by any combination of zone type (ex.. drink, feed, rest) , animal type and zone time (ex.. show me all zones that match my current time ) .

It would also be nice to have a count of zones that fulfill my filter/search criteria ....

Also an option to remove or filter out all map icons would be useful ....

wheat flint
#

Especially with the Hunt Club returning it would great to be able to filter my map hunting zones so I can hunt where I need to hunt .....

wheat flint
#

This might very well be in the new update for spring 2023 ... It seems to match a lot of the hints that Jaxy was throwing out in yesterdays stream. And when you consider that NEM map has around 200 drink zones for Moose alone, this is something that is really seriously needed ....

primal mica

Would be extremely useful and a significant improvement in the tools we have available.

I think that a function like this would make the game even more arcade, a hunter is supposed to know where the animals that he is going to hunt are, the icons of need zones grouped on the map are already enough help

wheat flint
#

the game is based on hunting in and around zones .... if you consider that arcade then it is that way by design .... But be it as it is we now have maps that contain over 200 or more drink zones for just one species alone !!! We need a way to filter these zones on the map just to make them manageable...

wheat flint
#

This is a badly needed QOL enhancement. In addition to zone markers we should also be able to filter all map objects. Tents, stands, outposts ... etc . Turn off filtering and everything is shown just as it is today .... So each player chooses what they want to see and how much ...

scarlet isle
#

Yes a counter for how many zones u have wold be nice

#

Also I like to see more stats on each map like how many deer u have killd on for exmapel laton

wheat flint
wheat flint

Oh my map is so crowed with all these icons .... I wish I could just see and get a count of all my white tail drink zones !!! I wonder how??

scarlet isle
#

Doing very nice with the 48 likes spread the word people let's hit the big 50 maybe Evan get 100

wheat flint
#

wow its 2:00am in the morning and I cant' sleep. I guess I'll go hunting .... Map filter show me all the drink, feed and rest zones between 1:00am and 5:00am

wheat flint
#

I feel like rabbit hunting today .... show me only rabbit feed and rest zones ....

wheat flint
#

Anyone for a duck hunt? I don't have money for decoys so only show me all my duck zones ....

scarlet isle
#

And I wonder how many duck zones I have because I'm bad at counting. I can only count to 4 🤣
I am bad at counting and when the maps full of little need zones this will help big time

wheat flint
#

Where are all my tents setup? How about all my tripods and stands? Just ask the map filter .....

scarlet isle

Jax was struggling to find his rabbit need zones today on streem if he only had the filter 👍

I agree that zone filters need to be added. Especially for small game. Can never seem to find the zones again. I also think that zones should be visible when zoomed out in the map as well. Maybe it doesn't show up with a full need zone icon but it could just show up as a yellow, green, or blue dot according to the zone type. That way we at least have an idea where other zones are besides drink zones.

wheat flint

Especailly now with hunt club being a thing. It would sure be nice when hunt club give you a task to kill water foul. You can go to your map filter and filter to show all mallard or golden eye zones. or whatever birds you have on your map. With so many icons on our maps now .... we really need the QOL improvement ....

Can't forget.. so just gonna leave that there for the hypocrite 🙂.. I'm out..

Lmao oh yeah something another game like WOTH has but this game doesn't. Huh? Damn who knew! LabBPat

wheat flint
# formal aspen Can't forget.. so just gonna leave that there for the hypocrite 🙂.. I'm out..

Well it's only hypocritical if I knew the other game had map filtering which I didn't... Never played it .... We were also talking about something totally different ... You were wanting to increase COTW difficulty to make it more like the other game. But if you honestly feel like this game doesn't need map filtering then vote against it .... You pulled that post out of context from another thread so I don't expect you to be honest about it ....

To be honest, I am not entirely certain how practical this would be. Most zones are not tied to individual species. The same zone can be used 24 hours a day, but the species using it will of course change. I have some zones with 5+ species listed as using it throughout the day. Essentially, as long as you know where a drink zone is, you can head there at most times and there is a good chance something will be using it.

#

This has to be in the game and I can't believe it wasnt a thing from the launch of the game.. Yes it sounds arcade but guess what.. It is a game. People play to have a good time, not to struggle with everything. Thats how you get players. Spotting an animal and highlighting it aint a simulation either. If you don't like the arcade side of it just don't use it same as all the setting you can turn off to make the game harder. For multiple zone it wouldnt change a thing, you want to see the needs zone from 1 animal, if the animal is in the need zone it shows up on the map even if theres 10 species using that zone.

Its not only that, I'm currently hunting Layton Lake.. The map is HUGE, theres needs zones EVERYWHERE. Lets say for exemple I want to hunt some coyotes while they sleeping, I know what time they sleep at. I still have to check ALL the sleeping zones I have on my map to give me an idea on where I have to go ! This takes ages ! Oh no moose zone, white tail zone, another moose, ffs where are the coyotes zones ! It really gets frustrating.

I know this has been suggested in the past, but it would be very useful if map-related features such as note-taking on the map and color-coding of tent and tripod icons could be implemented together.

I would love to have this!

wheat flint

Been playing some RC lately and boy does that map ever need this feature ...

#

Thread bump fr, I love this idea because sometimes trying to find the zone im looking for is a needy task.

wheat flint
#

show me all my zones for mallards, show me all my zones with Canada Geese .... Give me a count of all my Moose Zones .... show me where all my stands are set up at ..... reset to default shows everything .... Who doesn't want something like this? And if you think this makes things too easy then don't use the filter ..... I need this feature in my COTW life!!!

# wheat flint Please let us filter map objects and primarily zone markers. Let us view zone ...

While I understand the point of this request, and agree it would be very useful, filtering zones on/off by time is going to be mostly useless. Most zones have well more than one species associated with them, and very often these will have different times. I have some that are being used most of the day and night, but by different animals. A filter for time would not help that. However, being able to filter by species would be excellent indeed.

wheat flint
#

Again the point of filtering is to give the end user the maximum ability to see only what they want to see in a very crowed UI.... We should be able to filter by any number of criteria and if they go through the trouble of adding filtering then filtering by time is just as viable as filtering by species

#

for example suppose I enter a reserve at 1pm ... I may not even have any idea what I want to try and hunt but if I filter the time asking for all zones between 1 pm and 4pm I can see that moose are drinking during that time. So that settles it I guess I'm hunting Moose ....

#

And not to belittle the work involved in maintain those spreadsheets that provide us with all the zone times ... A good portion of that data could be utilized in game with the proper application of map filters

delicate sage
#

To filter 🙏 😭 (we need to see need zones when all the way zoomed out)

I just joined the discord specifically to post about this. There’s just so many things on a map, for multiple species, it’s way too much information overload. Even if it wasn’t filtered by zone, even just filtering by animal would be TONS of help!

wheat flint
#

this is badly need especially on Vurhonga where the zones are everywhere

placid birch
#

@wheat flint something similar yes, but be able to differentiate just by a search and a filter. i think the combo of both ideas would work wonders for the game

wheat flint

Yes, we absolutely need this. There's just no other way to find your bearings in a map completely cluttered with possibly hundreds of zone markers.

This request should be #1

Thansk for the b .... maybe one day they will get around to this .... Of course its not something they can make money off of so who knows when ????

I would love this. So often that I wish to hunt for a specific animal and have to waste time scoping out all the needzones to see which one is the one I need. I would LOVE to just select the target animal and have my map adjusted so I can go from needzone to needzone.

Map filters are really needed on the New Small park map .... So many Zones to keep track of ... Please EW help us out with this mess ..... 252

Map zone makers are such a cluttered mess ... Please this is the #1 QOL improvement the devs can make ... 267

wheat flint

Please EW! We need some relief from all these cluttered maps .... Especially with the new challenge system .... I need to locate all my deer zones between 20:00 - 00:00 ... 271

#

Was thinking about this earlier while playing. Especially now that we have animals like snow leopards, tigers, and we’ll probably get even more like them where you’ll only have a handful of zones at any given time. It’d be a nice tool to help keep track of them

#

Don’t get the argument about some zones having multiple animals or times so it wouldn’t work…if the target animal / time is in the zone, you display it / hide unrelated information 🤷‍♂️

#

Like I make the mistake of forgetting to memorize where random temporary snow leopard zone is and welp! Never finding that again without using 20-30 minutes of my life 😂

We already have zones, making it so those zones are more easily manageable doesn’t make the game anymore “arcade” then it already is

scarlet harbor
#

Kinda makes me mad that EW won't even address this request one way or the other

wheat flint
#

This feature is so desperately needed .... Maps are just a cluttered mess ...

and now with the new challenge system I want to be able to find certain zones to complete certain challenges but its just seems to take longer than it should .... Please consider helping us to organized our maps .... 286 .

wheat flint
#

Can you imagine opening up your map and setting a filter so that you will only see those zones of the animals that you are wanting to hunt?

There is a new map on the way with 19 species ... Once again there will be so many zone markers cluttering the map and making it difficult to find the zones you want to target .... This is a QOL change that is so badly needed ....

Maybe it's just me but the clutter offends my OCD .... 291

wheat flint
#

please redesign the map screen to add filtering .... with 19 species on a map now the number of zone icons just clutters up the map and make it very time consuming to find the zone your looking for ...

Also consider allowing the player to zoom out farther and still see the icons. Just have the icons change to colored dots at higher zoom levels ....

Joined the discord just now specifically to make this suggestion. Another feature that I think would be a top tier addition to this would be interactive zone icons where players could select the icon on the map and either type a brief description or select from an integrated dropdown list to input the herd info for that zone, whichever is easier to implement. This would make herd management a lot more user friendly especially for beginners who are trying to wrap their head around how it all works.

#

Even the ability to number your zones or have them automatically numbered by the game as you find them so you can jot down the info and have an actual visual representation on the map for easy referencing.

I'm only hearing crickets from EW..... 😕

Since it's a duplicate we have to move your post here @warm geyser, but your feedback and comments were really good and I want to make sure nothing gets lost!:

Right now it is very hard to navigate the map and constantly check every need zone to see what, where, and when it is active, especially when you want to hunt a specific animal or a few specific animals. It would be a big quality of life improvement if map filters were added, for example:

Filter by current time, shows all active need zones based on the in game time. This would be especially useful for new players and also for experienced players who want to explore the map, not just grind.,
Filter by animal, let players toggle which animals’ need zones are shown on the map.,
Filter by need zone type, and allow it to work together with the filters above.,

And a few QOL ideas:
Number of animals in each need zone.,
Up to 5 custom named markers so you can leave reminders for yourself, for example where you spotted a rare fur moose.,

This is just an example. Please share your own ideas or suggestions in the comments. The goal is to add these filters so players can hunt a wider variety of animals or focus on specific species when they want. Right now, most hunting is centered around drinking zones, and these filters would encourage more diverse and natural hunting across the map.

@brave willow

Using the same filters the lodge uses would be great

@upper trellis

This might also help alleviate map lag for those with tons of zones by hiding some of them

@pearl adder

i would love this for the trophy lodges too.

@elder pine

This sorting system is already in trophy lodges

@wheat flint

You could have found this by literally searching on Map Filters .... but yeah we need this ... been suggested for some time now ....

@pearl adder
I can not just pull up red foxes only or just red deer. You pull them up by class and going by location doesn't help either. It doesn't show you everything or it shows you more animals then what your looking for. It's still also very bugged and likes to call common coats rare.

@warm geyser

If the devs haven’t done it after all this time, I doubt it will ever be added. 😅

#

And since I'm here and of course hear a lot desire for us to respond,

I'll just say we have a lot stuff on the roadmap, but we're a small team that has to prioritize. I agree this is a great feature and I'm sure one day we'll have something similar. Right now I can't make any promises, but don't misinterpret our silence, we see the interest and the benefit of this.

warm geyser
# mild quail And since I'm here and of course hear a lot desire for us to respond, I'll just...

Many long-standing issues in COTW have been raised on the forums for up to five years and still remain unresolved, which points to weak prioritization. The most damaging ones for first impressions are aim sensitivity, binocular sensitivity, the red dot UI, map filters, and sound.

These should be top priorities because new players come from other games where these systems are already polished. Here they immediately feel outdated, creating a poor first experience that drives players away and ultimately hurts DLC sales and the game’s long-term growth
