Classic big whitetail are pretty accurate its the non typical that are not

Though i like the twist they took as if they did the standard typical shape but Nontypical points most would look the same and only vary really between wide rack and high rack

@full cave and @supple tulip I think the mule deer needs to be remodelled because they are tiny. In real life mule deer are the same size if not larger than white tails, but in cotw white tails are twice as big as them. In my opinion they need to be larger in size.

Here in saskatchewan, Canada our mule deer are considerably larger than the whitetail, and we have some of the largest body whitetail in the world. Our whitetails are big cuz of the cold so they put on more pounds. Thing is our whitetail hide in bushes a lot but our mule deer stand out in the open, hence out mule deer getting jacked as hell lol

@violet schooner yeah theyre all over around me. i live just outside of the boreal forest, where the prairies end. The past 15-20 years has seen mule deer push themselves right up to the forests now. Our hunters manual each year states shooting hybrids around here is common so as long as it carries a few traits of the animal youre hunting, you arent in trouble for harvesting it. ie - a lot of whitetail around here have the forked G2 tines and no brown tines and really dark fur (our mule deer here are super dark, nearly black some of the times), so sometimes people near end of legal light could mistake it for the other species. They arent punished or criminalized for it

Eh not entirely true per se. Grizzlies ARE indeed brown bears but are considered a different subspecies (big difference). The ingame "brown bears" are most likely of the Eurasian subspecies versus the grizzly subspecies that are featured on Yukon. But both are brown bears regardless. Cladistics is confusing sometimes, lol.

Well it seems my luck with adding the beta fabled whitetail to my main save has run dry. The game crashes whenever I try entering the lodge after the recent update/patch, rip. My other lodge is totally fine so I can only assume it has something to do with that.
Not sure if this is a GO bug or a bug with transfering the save file around.

If I were to delete the lodge, would the trophies appear in my trophy manager? Yes, yes it does.

Can confirm this is a fabled Great One whitetail bug. Deleted the crashing lodge and when adding the GO to a wall plaque the game crashes.

It was in there for a good while when I transfered the beta save file to the main one. But I guess while they were doing all the bug fixes for the trured update that something was changed/forgotten without the devs knowledge. I'm not too worried though. I've done some research on red deer lately and there are quite a few different looking reds around the globe. Some are skinny and others get bulky so not sure which reds are modeled in the game. They are pretty lean in the game. Some stags get really muscular and those look awesome.

Like some reds living on mountains don't gain much weight but they are more agile.

I like pretty much all the animals on Medved for example

Lynx have a derpy look due to the eyes now and then, but thats mostly "it"

Overall the animal I find to be the most "in need" of some more model work would likely be the caribou

Yea the GO spawn is completely random. Some have been shot off high lvl respawns,others off of lower respawns. Just a crap shoot so to speak.

I remember one of the dataminers mention something about that the GOs are attached to a level and a furtype. Not sure if that means that killing all WTs is a good idea (the same technique if you wanted a rare furtype to spawn) or only killing the big ones do (more diamond potentials).

Yea the only technique that’ll up your odds of finding a GO is just to play more 😹 Idk never seen a GO track @hollow mountain I’ve heard they’re “supposed” to look different but have never even seen a track posted. As far as I’ve heard @finite jungle they have the same calls as the normal ones. I could be wrong but only the devs or people who’ve encountered one know 😹

Pretty sure their tracks atm are normal max weight ones for WTs. Prob a bug since the GOs can get over 230lbs. Unless that was fixed in an update.

No, it shouldn't get deleted. But I did have to delete the lodge where mine was mounted in since it kept crashing. Thankfully, deleting a lodge just adds those trophies into your manager. Trying to remount it though causes a crash.

has anyone thats been shooting lots of whitetail had all their herds completely change? I've shot somewhere between 1500 and 1700, and suddenly, I have a lot of lakes with no herds, where I've had them since this started, and a few lakes with huge herds. Seems odd

I mentioned having had the same thing happen to me about a month or so back during my grind on whitetails. Essentially herds were disappearing and whitetails were appearing in areas that never had them. Also had issues with respawns as well that I never had previously. Took a step back and simply stopped grinding WTs because of it honestly.

I would say my total number of deer is about the same, but its much harder to kill like 20-25 in a 45 min span as I was able to before that, since those few big herds hold like 6-7 bucks, instead of a bunch of spots with 1-4 bucks

A lot of my usual places don't have any whitetail anymore. But some only have like 1 or 2 females. I have the same problem with Red Deer in Hirschfelden. Red Deer does not exist in Jonsdorf anymore.
Have not hunted them like I have the whitetail, but it feels like something happend there. And that the same thing is happening with the whitetail.

Oh and I don't have any big herds with Whitetail. The biggest I know of has 9 females in it

I am having a diffrent problem as well. The drink need zones for whitetail dont always show on the map.

I've noticed I cant get more than one zone for any herd. I tried hunting whitetail feed times just to see if that helped, I found my same herd's feed zones, and that removed the drink zones off the map, relocating the drink zones added them and deleted the feed zone icon. Idk why that happens

@pliant oak yeah thats what I thought since it can be played offline, just seems bizarre it could change like that without an update. Could be some intentional mechanic I suppose, as a way to keep the game fresh

By me I am going down to 6 whitetail zones now that actually stay and work with respawns😡 i keep looking for new zones but they disappear after 2-3 time resets so its frustrating hunting them as progress is like finding a needle in a haystack

I was mostly counting my whitetail runs. I almost always managed 20 kills per run or more, and I lost count at 50 cuz once I figured I passed 1000 kills I didn’t care as much, but I keep track of my total harvests pretty closely. And I know I only shot like 100-120 red deer, maybe an additional 100 animals while hunting those, and a few hundred animals in freaks and videos, so 1600 I think is quite accurate

If I were to kill a big animal but it’s not max level

Like let’s say a 4 gemsbok with the same trophy estimate as a 5 gemsbok

If it respawns at a higher level, will it have random values or will it still have the same general horn/antler shape as it had when it was lower level

Like for example, I killed a mythical buffalo that had the same exact trophy estimate as a legendary today (very big for mythical) . If it respawns as a legendary, will it be a huge legendary or will it respawn with a different horn shape so it’s not guaranteed to be a massive legendary?

Think of the GO as a rare fur type. The more whitetail you kill the higher chance you get of one spawning on the next respawn. But expect to kill 1000s of WTs or just get extremely lucky.
