I need to test this more myself, but everyone is looking for whitetail, but I think people should focus on blacktail too. Something about their racks seem different to me. Maybe I just came across a herd of all really nice looking blacktail but all the racks I saw looked to have much nicer form than I am used to seeing. Just throwing it out there. what we know about spawning is that the gender ratio is constant and animals usually spawn in a similar weight class. so you can logically extrapolate that it's best to kill higher level ones to get higher chances of spawning diamonds

I wanted a diamond plains bison, so I started shooting all the level 3s until small 4 spawned in, then I shot all the small 4s until the big 4s spawned in, after shooting all those, a level 5 spawned in. I've gotten 2 since then on my map

my thoughts on this are: maybe internally in the code, the new maximum possible scoring of an animal is reserved for nontypicals. the duck and caribou that (mistakenly, according to TK) were "Great Ones" were both max weights. so it could be that that's why they bugged out the way they did

Code wise it makes no sense for a fur type (aka the texture) that is clearly designed around the whitetail mesh to be on a rabbit with an entirely different model without the textures being wonky asf. The rabbit would need to have its very own distinctive fur type/texture. The fabled fur type on a whitetail model is def intentional.

Actually, no. I had a 4h+ session earlier. It didn't trigger. I restarted, changed reserves, copied over my saves etc.. Then had to log off, and upon logging back in hour or two later, I got it.
