no sadly
my dad knew it was happening but he didn't tell me cause it was so normal for him :(

:((
i always have a northern lights viewer app
and during winter it says 5-20% chance
are there storks in sweden?
hmm
i haven't noticed any
no i dont think so
always when theres a high percentage theres thick clouds :/
damn
sitting outside during -25 looking at stars is nice
whats there
all my relatives on my dad's side lives there
nice
and that is mostly meänkieli speaking, and the people are finnish, so I am 60% finnish and only 30% swedish
rest is norwegian
i've never been more north than poland
alright
interesting thing is there is like a compact version of taiga in poland
we have a small forest
i've been to finland denmark uk estonia netherlands spain greece and usa
that counts kinda as a taiga
thats cool
i will be going there in fall
pärlälven urskog is a nice place
in sweden
means the pearl river ancient forest
random pics found on google from there
most places in swedish north aren't even named in swedish, either in meänkieli or sami
in that circle we have that taiga
i see a little patch of dark
in winter temperature is always below zero there
oof compare polands forest area to swedens
yessss
we have like a little farm land on the south and on the coast lines
we have way less of thyem
but on the inside its all forest
and then look at uk
russia give up kaliningrad already hahahahah
its like mad how in uk there are no forests
its funny to think though that poland is only one country apart from usa
yeah uk has no forests
i know someone from there she sends me photos of places she goes to and wildlife
and its like fcuking flat every where
when she goes to a forest she has to travel 45 minutes
i live in a forest XD
i live in an old school, surrounded by forest and next to a river
wish i could live like that for like a month
fuck one month
for a whole life
but then look at iceland
they have one forest
wtf
holy shit
small swamp to the left
woah
river behind the house
and forests infront and behind
how do you have internet?
the internet is laid under the roads
we have fibernet really fast
200mb per second
na we usually do
imagine the roads as like an artery
it goes from the heart, say a city, really good internet
then it follows big roads
oh i get it
rip
our internet mobile network coverage is really good tho
i get 2mbs
i get better internet in a random forest up north than i do from my room here

rip
i get 4g with 3 bars up in the remote forests of northern sweden
i dont have data until im like 5 miles from town and i live 20 from it
u gotta have really good maps there because its easy to get lost
i barely live in the middle of nowhere its just barely too remote to get the good internet

you should try to see a european bison
@amber brook where do u live?
yeah but cool
we have a zoo with them
and i mean if you can hunt them im sure its not too hard
but u cant
damn an howl is going crazy outside my window
maybe in poland ;)
fucking belarus has it all
my neighbours get good internet but they don't cover my house apparently
rip
its illigal in poland
my hotspot runs circles around hughesnet
mayby in germany
belarus its legal
whenever i think of louisiana im imagining you living right in the swamps of rougarou bayou
same xD
Pretty close
not about to dox myself but i live in a hunting cabin on a lake
have you heard that you get like 6$ a nutria you shoot
All i think about when i hear louisiana is Saint Denis
🤣
And some weird man who has a plan but just needs money
i can go outside and wrestle an alligator thats fucking a snake if i look around a little bit
fucking expensive to hunt a capercaillie
also 12$ for a woodcock?
wtf
not as crazy as Florida thank god
poor lil woodcock
its kinda pretty tho so thats cool
i though that was some weird sni[e
snipe*
we actually have a one completly wild region in poland @amber brook
no people, no walking paths
just swamps
so a normal forest ? XD
why does it look less hd as the places right next to it
I dont think ive ever seen a real forest in my life.
lucky
Like a real, untouched piece of land.
@topaz dust where do u live?
Netherlands
italy can go from 50 wolves to 2000 in just a couple decades but sweden can only go from 100 to 300 in 100 years
wtf
Must be the cold weather
then it wasnt untouched
oh fuck of xD
same website selling european bison hunting
you touched it you fuckking ruined it like everything else in your life
poor woodcocks and grouse
wtf why this shit is legal
fuck belarus
White russia you mean
like the lion in the lion hunting photos
poor bison
that shits hilarious
ill do it
there was pretty weird shit in białowieża recently
some mad fuck killed a bison and chopped his head off
daaaamn
and left the body
poor bison
xDDDDD
sorry i didn't see iu edited it lmao
lol
i added the oh so spooky eyes
wait is it legal to hunt lynx in belarus?
they have like less than 100 of them
i hope it's not
but there are propably more poachers than hunters
so
¯_(ツ)_/¯
cant find the picture but i vaguely a remember seeing a picture ages ago of lion hunters posing with a lion they shot but theres another in the background lmao
what yall think of my edited eyes XD
perfect
poor wolffffffffff
bruh
its all that i could have hoped for
how many yall gonna kill
awwww
this wolf looks like hes frozen xDD
i despise that country so much
but @amber brook can u imagine that average salary in belarus is around 300euro?
and its the only european dictator ship
russia too
i was thinking about going for a holiday to belarus
good
but after the voting
Bro...
its dangerous there
wtf why did i write non
xD
well but id be scared to go to belarus
wait whats the problem with that
no the bird things
i dont know the birds
woodCOCK
wooddick right?
no
tip if u want to say northern sweden as a word dont say lapland cause it means the land of lapp which in swedish means a piece of fabric which means the people who live there wear stitched together piece of fabrics
ok
but apparently it gets cold
whoever wrote the wiki article clearly didn't know
"In Lapland, reindeer pull pulks"
havent been here long enough to know tho so maybe it snows
Probably HooCairs who wrote that.
reindeer are not only used in lapland, better word to use is Sápmi
but they're also used by uralic tribes such as nenets and samoyedics
so just remove the lapland part or remove the whole thing
or actually whoever wrote it wrote about arctic and subarctic peoples so they could just replace lapland with arctic and subarctic peoples
well ima head to bed now since its late
i dont wanna ruin my sleep schedule since i get up at 5:30 on week day
right
i basically go to school at a military air base
nice
yeah
hahah
the flight technic education im going to is required to have access to aircraft so they own a big hangar on the air base full of private jets and old military planes such as spy planes
heres one picture from inside the hangar
that plane looks sick af
microsoft flight simulator 2020
no we repair planes then a technician comes and looks at them sees if we did it right
thats how you get the education
for flight mechanic, but im not gonna become a flight mechanic, im just using it as a helping hand for later going on a pilot education
well i guess thats a pretty nice school
i hope u become that pilot
also the sound of draken
aight cya
you can buy a draken for 400 000€ if u want to XD
but it costs around 9 000€ in fuel and maintenance every hour of flight
im not really intrested xD
hahhahahh
Got a emergancy call of my mum at 1.30am arrived to find mum had succesfuly captured one of the worlds most terrifying spiders, known in the uk as the common house spider, though despite her or him "they get bigger than this" frightful size they are harmless, but a big part of their fright facter is their speed, known by some as the running spider this aracnid is the fastest in the world, capable of dashing across my mums double lounge room in less than 15seconds, and yes its in a PINT glass with mums coverd bank card for comparision.. Its auterm and thus Spider season here in the uk, and a very fightening time of year for aracnophobics like my mum and I, 😲 but thanks to mums quick work we could be merciful and reaesle it alive, off into the night to go terrify someone else..... 😆
as i was reading this and looking at the 8 legged insane bolt i stepped on some tape and it stuck to my sock and ive never stomped my foot harder
I have to sit under my ceiling fan to stay cool and the fan blowing onto my arms and shit its giving me a heart attack every .5 seconds because of that inage
idt so
i know theyre nasty cunts but do they get that big?
cause isnt that a business card typea deal behind it
they get real big
ive never seen them be that big or heard of them get that big
i saw a daddy long leg the size of a penny at 1am while going outside with no power to refuel our generator and after i killed it one of those jumpy spiders made its way onto the gas can and close to my hand
that spider just looks like one
i had to look at pics of brown recluses to find out how big they get and now im all itchy and paranoid

im glad that i live in poland
no big spiders
little to no bears and wolves
few bizons here and there
and thats all
is that a white tail?
yep
cloudberry flower
very nice
can you spot the albino deer?
@bitter inlet
a buncha photos and videos
My tells me this story of when he was hunting deer or elk I can't remember but he was watching this opening when a big typical albino mule deer that was so white his rack blended in with the snow and after that my dad remembers this clearly after 20 or so plus years
niceee
sparrowhawk
is that a mk3 golf in the back

fuck the sparrowhawk take a picture of that thing
Very moist
Indeed
Sleepy chipmunk
Wow thats phenomenal! @bitter inlet
thanks man
this is one of my faverete robin photos, from my last visit to longleat centerparks, the robins are used to people there more than most and will come up close inspecting for crumbs. thus i finaly got my photo of the every uk's gardeners freind, and my faverate bird, the Noble Robin. 😄
and also a bluetit, with its bright yellow vest. 😄
but my mums got much better ones, worthy of any postcard, once we were visiting the Royal Britanic Garden Center and stopped at a picnick table at a lakeside when suddenly this tiny Robin landed at the tables center and fearlessly danced back and for between us twittering at us inspectantly and didnt leave despite mums cameria in its face until we gave it crumbs and bread before tweating off with its thankyou leaveing us both laughing with surprise, a moment with nature we'll never forget 😀
a pair of woodpeckers have a nest pretty near me
im waiting for snow and then im gonna try to make a photo
of a woodpecker with thick snow in the background
are woodpeckers common in uk? @glad wagon
yeah we get wood peckers, though their rare where i live, ive seen both green and red but ive never been able to get close enough for a photo, a couple of years ago one red one cameback reapetedly to my naybour hood and would drill on the lamposts in the morning, i staterd walking my mums old dog, now since past away... just to try and catch it in the act and get that photo, even stalking it, but alas it proved impossable. 😞
Fluffurnicus Maximus, mighty predator and king of his domain
long may he reign
he weighs 25 pounds lmao
-95
not quite photography, but showing what our wildfires has done to our air.
^ oregon btw
east coast gang
It’s orange because there state is on fire
Hey guys, i found stand camping in Mutherland northen Logging area very benafical, for numberous game follow out here and expose themselves in its reliative open. even the geese fly low enough here i can hit them with birdshot without decoys... but one animal above all the boar love to dewel here in good numbers, once even from a teestand rounded up nerly 50 of them with my caller in this area, but i'm curious to what it is about this area and enviroment that attracts them.. is it the open area full of broken branches to feed, or plenty of mud to which to sleep? what is it that gives the boars most reason to come here , all day and all night?
i have no idea
but i can tell you that that part of hirshenfelden looks the same as my forest
and we have tons of boars there
thats the corelation that i see
hunting for wolves in the Yukon night, sure perks up your senses
but the dawn brings delight and caribu for a fresh hunt ahead.
sunrise in spain can only bring much to gain, for the herds are plenty here in spain
but sundown brings the mood down, as your eyes are weary but the night air soothing.
guys i need help because i ain't sure if this photo is worth developing
so i need some opinions
and im more than fine if you're gonna say that its shite
@glad wagon @amber brook @charred cradle
@bitter inlet I fixed it up a little if that helps
Np👍
Sure
now you got pretty severe chromatic abberation that comes with phone cameras that get blown out of proportion when increasing saturation
I can fix it when I get home if u want
that would be awsome
i dont know what to say
:3
take your time
if you could do that within next week
it would be dope
takes like 60 seconds
didn't fix chromatic abberation yet but I made my own version of it that looks more realistic and not too saturated
or a bit more saturation
i gotta learn that kinda stuff
it's just an app
but for now thanks
download snapseed
yeah but i mean profesional editing
wdym
anyway now the photo looks much better
alright
while i was looking for pictures to develop i've found that nice big boy
its a bison mixed with cattle
Bow
beefalo actually mr smarty smartpants
i didnt even think bison could cross breed with domestic cattle
like i know they're all part of the bovine family but damn
thats actually cool as fuck
What's cool as fuck is they're called beefalo
well fuck yeah they're jacked have you seen a bull bison and a angus bull?
really any bulls of the bovine family
they're JACKED
well fuck yeah they're jacked have you seen a bull bison and a angus bull?
@worldly plank like me
😎
my boots are better dimmy
Yea okay
Like they are elephant-sized
That picture has the elephant in the background so not quite accurate, but they're still massive
Theres a guy back home that used to bring some bison/Angus crosses to the sale barn every now and then. I don't think they were the required 3/8 bison 5/8 cattle though. They were pretty odd looking
Beauty
Look I made it into hunting sim map terrain
we need grouse and squirells added to the game
hell yeah, add pheasants with them and i'll be out hunting like a rash, the three make for classic british small game, and though i cannot hunt Irl i would love for more local small game to give me something to feel fairmiler when i go hunting in game, the three small game would also make excillent content for a 1st dog DLC as they will need dogs to flush them out of hiding and track them down, and ofc affterwards be fetched by our good boys 😉
I have seen that mission it is dope
I edited in Lightroom to pop him out a little but I thought this was nice enough to post
Oh man, it looks bad in discord. If you want it to look hd you have to click "open original"
Beauty
Zoom lenses are magical things
That's an elk right
No that's a hippopotamus
how do you turn off your hud @main solar ? i want to know that too
It's in game settings
ok, but is there a hot key for when you just want a quick photo while in hunting?
P
ta very much
np
Baby Copperhead
Im telling you if I were to walk outside without the intent of finding a copperhead id probably never see that
Yea, the scary part is I was moving cement blocks and stuck my hand right next to that snake not paying attention while grabbing a block and I’m lucky it didn’t bite 😬
It said he doesn’t see me he’s going for hard lego don’t move he won’t see you
I discovered the photomode thing in rdr2 and I took some cool pics
This one looks like it’s from a book
yeah i cropped in 20x
this furry monstrosity has found his new favorite toy
his name is Fluffurnicus, he weighs 25 pounds, and he comes up to my knees. hes not small
good kitty
Dunno if this belonga here but fuck it
This thing that my sister found
Wut
This here is Alvengaard Fort!
Thats a stuffed animal
trust me if i didn't own her i'd think that too. she looks like an enchanted stuffed toy
https://youtu.be/L6paGDFmZ5A she likes to talk and she has a lot to say
omg her fur looks so beautifull
mmmh, makes me hungry 😉
the bunny? lol
hehhe, yes
me too looks delish
^
indeed
but it's a pretty one for sure, i can't deny it
omg those pictures are gorgeous
thanks
The biggest of all bass!
hmmm sounds like another alien has landed
met that beauty today in kampinos forest
@glad wagon i think you'll like it
@amber brook
ooh i do belive thats um... a Imperiral... somthing... doh i forget tbh i'm not very good when it comes to learning and remembering the names of plants and insects, and with butterflies and spiders they can be highly variable yet all too similer and with native alterations across conterys it could be anything... but it does look farmiler to one of our own uk butterflies.. 🤔
it's pretty common butterfly in Poland
but this one was very calm so i could make a photo from extremaly close range
keep in mind that my camera has only 2x zoom
i've got a nice close up of my own, this being a Elephant nose hawk moth i found while walking Conker, it is pretty big as you can see from this second pic of it in my hand, its not hard to get close to one, but i think with it not making barly a fuss it was likly on its last legs.. 😌
awwww it always was my dream to meet this beauty
i have only seen it in books
concker is sweet too 😉
this is another local butterfly i caught on camirea a while back, it was very small and i still don't know what it is, but it was sweet in this privaliged photo 😉
i did also once gain my dream of a dragonfly close up... point blank which to me over 10mins of crawling in the roadside mud moving like a stalking camelian cm, by cm to get so close to it without it spooking, i took the photo while practicaly touching it, and was over the moon when i got the photo.. but i'd taken it on my 1st old phone and when i saw its quality i cryed... 😞 i'll never get a second chance to get that...
that's why i have bought a proper camera
it costed a lot and i had to save up for it for a year
but i'd say it was worth it
yeah, but i cannot even afford my phone bill atm, in order to get my currently broken phone replaced, the insurance won't cover it until the bill is paid, thats why i cannot get you a photo of my new moose Spruce nor my latest artwork, hopefully will get access to my scanner tommorrow but i'm not getting my hopes up 😕 anyway its late and ive had a pretty crappy day so i'm going to try and chill in my fishing sim, and try and catch a worthy PB on roach, rudd, crustions and tench, with maybe some pike and barbel on the side, so i'll catch you after ttfn 😉
@amber brook what was making that noise?
sounds like cats to me
its her basket now lol
fixed lel
my dwarf snauzers coat is apparently too soft, not even worth what I paid for him smh waste of money
A what
A this
say guys funny question, i know many here love hunting the Yukon wolves, but facing greenskins i wonderd what hunter game weapon would you all take for hunting the bruser wolves from the warhammer oldworld? its just a thought but a fun one 😁
rocks
^ Very sharp ones
Duckos
👍
Alberta, Canada :D
5 wolves, one .454, 5 shots
No wonder they went extinct in the USA for a time

i just woke up, i had a dream that i could afford to visit sweden 🤣
and for a whole dream i was exploring sweden's taiga
I had a dream I could afford food🤣😂😞😭
nice
lotta noise and lotta light pollution but it looks nice
Priceless
sadly not my photo... but this is the night sky in the Beacon Beacons national park, just north of where i live, its one of many blacklight sancuarys in wales and one of the best in the uk.. this is how our nights should look, what i wouldn't give to go camping up there even for just one night, and see the wild ponys, mind it be cold up there and with very little trees i'd need a proper good coat and hat and some hotsteamy coffee, when wait till dawn then i'd get a double of something speaical so i'll best wait till ive a proper camira 1st 😄
holy shit mate i didn't know that something like that could occur in Wales
most of mid-north wales has a nightsky like that, most of our population live only in the south, pushing east, the marjorety of mid-north wales has ether spase or no population whatsoever, and its restored natural beuty just gets better every year 😉
Those Milky Way shots are super exaggerated usually
Can really happen anywhere with little to no light pollution
the beacan beacons has such a pure sky , sometimes each year night photographys get the rarest treat of some of the northen lights glowing into veiw from the northen horizon, something that is never veiwable in the rest of the uk, unless your liven in shetland at the north tip of scotland, its a real treat for the lucky us here in wales, 😁
It's the camera that makes it look like that light exposure mode of some sort you wont see it with your own eyes as clear as that
It’s usually a series of long exposure shots lined up
^ yep
Damn that looks like expensive property
cause it is
i mean it's a church i think
i don't actually know if you can get a rest there
though you were propably joking
a church in the middle of a lake in slovenia
lake is called "bled"
pretty nice place
in mountains
i think they are called "lower alps"
and here is a picture of two fellers that once lived on my fence
ahhhhhh i love insects
just press "P" and use the camira mod, thats the closest i've got tp turning off the hud... though i wish it would hide the tracks too, their really awkward when they spoil the screenies..
You can turn off hud and tracks 😑
yes but which key is it?
isnt there a hotkey, to switch them on/off along with the hud?
Unfortunately no. You need to set them off manually. It was suggested in yesterdays QOL-stream tho so let's see 🙂
if there was a hot key to toggle off/on the hud, wouldnt it make sense if it hid the tracks too?
Well HUD and tracks are different thing. Tracks are in the world and HUD is an overlay.
And more often than not people might still want to keep the tracks on even when playing hudless
hmmm maybe, so since your talking "sorry if wrong chat" do you know how i can getting my ducks to come back, i searched a large portion of Layton yesterday and i never saw, nor heard a single duck, they are litterly missing.... got any advice?
I'll answer in general so not going off topic 😄
ta
eat him 😆
mmm yummy
i've never ate badger's meat
anly boar and red deer meat
do people eat badgers in sweden?
never heard of anyone doing that
Yeah I don’t think badger meat is very good
You ought to release him. Just try not to get mauled 😂
Wolverines basically a mix of those 2 on steroids
I've heard of people eating badger. Apparently its actually pretty good
They are some stinky suckers atleast american badgers. I'd never eat em
I feed one a carrot
in the uk badgers like this are now strictly protected, but sadly somtimes they get killed by farmers, beacuse their known to carry TB and give it to livestock, is sad realy its not their fault, and one of my faverate animals along with other mustilites 🥺
those things are assholes lol
nah we love badgers here in the uk, evryone loves to watch badger cams, and often night watch near sets to catch them on camira, once on a uk holiday camp forest, a badger family crossed our path at night, such a wonderful site, pity we never got any photos due to my insane gran screeming for everyone to look... felt like throwing her in the ditch... shes gone and past year before last... no one missed her.. you can judge me all you like, but you don't know what she was but undelight... 🙄
scuss me... i'm not even going to argue about that... because if you consider yourself normal, then i'm very glade i'm not.. 😉 anyway i'm going to go cook , mum wants spagboll tonight and i'm late to start..
ttfn
for the record, my gran was nuts, amd not in a niceway, she hated on everyone, was openly and loadly overly opinionated and rascist, and would pick random fights with people, even had a punch up with a old war veteran in a market over a lasangue, and triede to crash her car with kids inside, and wosre she made my mums life a missery for exposing her affier since childhood, so go kiss your own gran to sleep tonight coz, least you might have a good one, Nn
what a terrible person
my gran is not a nice person too
idk old people are always weird
they are just blunt
they usually speak facts
just they do not understand the entire story these days
no my gran was realy nasty peace of work, even my grampa would not go to the same bed as her in the end, then she went clinicly insane and went on a bender, and if that wasnt the end, the horrible b*ch held on only to die on xmas day just to spite everyone.. you'll proberly laugh but she even wrote it down that thats how she wanted to go.... hades proberly growned when he heard she was comming and i don't blame him, anyway hobs on ttfn all
Beautiful area...
zero animals up here though
This was about as far as I could go before I was gonna get teleported back to camp
ahhhhhhh been there few times
i love hiking on layton lake and yukon
same stuff as i do irl
wish there would be dall sheep on yukon
Albino roe buck????
Shoooot
Are there any other hunters in your area? If not I’d say let it grow
Unless there are predators or cars in your area
Well yeah it is always a gamble
its on a island lol, not really any predators but its a very small island and i dont own any land on it.
Who does?
i dont really know anyone who owns anymore than a house and a yard but a relative used to deer hunt there so im going to ask him if he knows anyone
So ur telling me ur living on a private island with albino deer on it
thats a rare piebald, not albino, plus you can see them wherever one was just born on the island
^
Don’t live there, you have to cross through it to get to another island lol
I’m going to attempt to find him again and take some better pictures with an actual camera too
Id probably give him another year or 2
But piebald deer can have many deformations
So im not expecting him to live too long
A piebald deer is no different than any other deer, it just has white hair
No he’s right a lot of animals with rare fur colors aren’t as healthy as their common counterparts
Albinos I know for sure have health complications
“ a piebald deer CAN have scoliosis but many do not, some look like they are heathy but are not.”
A cooler full of 151 spot and not huge, but my biggest trout 😄👍
Albinos I know for sure have health complications
@mortal halo that's actually false
As I've said before sometime ago. Unless the albinism is a byproduct of things such as incest or the animal or person has any underlying conditions, albinos generally are healthy animals, they don't live long cause their more likely to be picked off
Even the whole "infertile albino" thing is a myth
Creature's with albinism are fertile and can have children like other creatures, There are no albinistic traits that affect the reproductive system, but this myth is surprisingly widely believed. Even doing an Internet search for "albino sterile" reveals discussions about how humans or animals with albinism are sterile; people talk about it as if it's a real thing, even adding details like sterility is more common among males than females. However There is no association at all,
however its a little different from piebaldism. in addition to a rare coat in piebaldism
a piebald animal, usually deer will likely have other issues, including:
bowing of the nose (Roman nose)
overbite
short legs
arching spine (scoliosis)
short lower mandible
internal organ deformities.
this is because of pleiotropy, wherein one gene regulates multiple traits. For example, a single gene can play a role in pigmentation, as well as in the growth of bones in the developing deer. These sometimes induce crippling genetic mutations, along with the bright white color, makes it that much more difficult for piebalds to survive into adulthood, hence their inability to pass on any harmful genes to their offspring.
The only time albinism is a cause for concern when it comes too breeding is if they are the result of a genetic impurity due to things like inessive incest. Which is why many white tigers in captivity have genetic issues, many of them are the result of inbreeding
you know to much
I guess 3 years of vet class in high school had its benefits after all xD
You know what is up with this deer by chance then? Guy posted it here awhile ago
I dunno tbh, never seen something like that. My best guess judging by how the face and horns looks is some sort of genetic condition
If I'm looking it up right that Bucky Boi may be Erythristic
Hmmm
Ooh that's apparently the same thing with wildebeast being golden
@modern flare your deer has been figured out
Yeah, that's what conclusion I'd come to, also.
I wish he reproduced more so I could see some more red Muley babies running around. Such a beautiful mutation.
what im curious about is if the his Erythisim is the cause for his funky antlers
Like I know deer antlers can get funky even when growing but I've never seen one with a rack like that, even as a spike
@modern flare he may reproduce more, least strawberries are more healthy genetically compared to piebalds
plus did you know of all animal species Katydid bugs are the most common with this pigmentation
and their really cute :D
Pink bois
Yeah, that buck has been gone for about 7 years now. He was an old boy, probably about 7-8 years old when my sister took those pics.
Haven't seen any evidence of his progeny running around since, sadly. He grew an absolutely awesome looking non-typ rack that year when we saw him later in the season.
Just was never close enough or enough light to take pics.
I think someone down the road shot him either that year or the year after.
Aww that stinks, hopefully he produced some offspring before he passed. Thought odds are I doubt he passed on his Erythrism, he probably produced some nice looking children
Hope they were smart enough to keep the pelt and stuff and not just take a picture
Well, assuming erythrism is the result of just one set of recessives versus a set of polygenes, 100% of whatever he sired carries a copy of it.
It all depends on whether or not there's enough of his offspring meeting back up again to match those genes together to throw more erythristic babies.
So far, that hasn't happened, sadly.
Eh I'd rather a genetically diverse population rather than an inbred population
Yeah, genetically diverse is better then inbred
Thats why many albino species of animals in captivity especially white tigers have genetic issues, many of them are the result of inbreeding due too people wishing to continue the chance of getting albino even if the animals come out genetically fucked
Genetically diverse albinos basically have no health concerns unless the issue is genetic compared to inbred albinos
Unless their piebald, and in that case especially if your a deer your fucked regardless.
I've never seen any variation of Deer or elk out here so they must be very diverse
You need a certain amount of inbreeding in order to make these recessive traits pop, though.
Too much is bad, yes, but otherwise if everything is always crossed out, you get nothing but "stock" dominant traits.
Inbreeding is responsible for making the good traits better and the bad traits worse, after all.
Bad culling is what will ruin everything 100% of the time.
Inbreeding is basically a mixed bag in the animal world, same as it is with people, which is why it's helped a lot with conversation with endangered species.
As long as the line is far enough apart between family members your usually fine.
Yeah, that's where linebreeding comes in.
You need a certain percentage of homozygosity within those lines but then you also need to keep tweaking the heterozygosity as you go.
I'm not sure what the mutation factor for deer is, however I do know it's much lower than that of rabbits, which is what I work with a lot for general breeding/genetics work.
Like breeding siblings together is generally gonna fuck up your line, but if you breed a brother with say....a great aunt or higher down the line the DNA is far enough apart that you don't run that high of a risk of genetically butchered offspring.
It's part of the reason why you hear so many royal families especially in the late 13-1400's having so many genetically fucked children.
Like one monarchy wanted to preserve their blood line so badly they kept it ALLL in the family, and as a result produced children with such various genetic abnormalities that they ended up killing off their own bloodline cause either the children didn't live long or they became sterile.
Genetics is so peculiar at times
That's not quite true, actually.
The risk of harmful mutation is actually higher for breeding to completely unrelated bloodlines than it is to inbreed for one generation.
All inbreeding does is increase your homozygosity. Whatever good traits were in there are now better. And whatever bad traits were in there are now worse. What's important is to cull out the bad traits that got worse.
Also humans have such a paltry mutation factor, we can't keep up with generational bottlenecks that stretch back more than a couple of generations. That's why that happened so bad in those "royal" families.
And that sterility/fertility problem is what we call "inbreeding depression".
That's what happens when you do that way too much consecutively.
Thank god none of these monarchy survived to current times, if they ended up getting a TV show like the Kardashian's I'm betting sweet money their theme song would be "Sweet Home Alabama"
Yeah, we can thank that too much inbreeding is a self-correcting problem lol
If you do it too much, it's self-deleterious.
yeetus yeetus, we have committed self deletus
Whatever the case may be, I think you may find another strawberry down the line, where there's one theirs bound to be more, may take a while but if your old boy did have kids they may have moved outta town
Perhaps.
I do hope I see more eventually.
What do you often call them? i usually hear people call them blondies, but I know some call them strawberries
I called him a blondie. Although strawberry is also a good term.
Also, since we're still on the topic of genetics, I've always wondered if there are different strains of piebaldism in deer.
Like I know how piebaldism typically also has garbage developmental code attached to it, but I wonder if there are some piebaldism genes that have less issues than others do.
I think it highly depends on how far the one gene fits all goes cause piebaldism is caused by pleiotropy, wherein one gene regulates multiple traits. A single gene can play a role in pigmentation, as well as in the growth of bones in the developing deer. These sometimes induce crippling genetic mutations, along with the bright white color.
I think it depends how many "jobs" the genes have self hired themselves for
Hence why you get variations
And why some are more dangerous then others
Like one set may set you up for scoliosis and a underbite, but another may fuck with your internal organs or immune system
Yeah, like with rabbits, the most common piebaldism gene is an incompletely dominant gene that introduces white blocks of color on the animal.
When it's matched up with another piebald gene, it removes most of the colored pigment of the animal but then in some variations of the gene, also codes for megacolon. Which is an enlarged digestive tract that makes the rabbits more sensitive to diet changes.
I raise a breed of rabbit that has a strain of piebaldism that always codes for megacolon when it's matched with another piebald gene. But then there's other double-dominant piebald animals I've met who don't have the megacolon condition.
So I've always been curious if there's some more virulent strains of piebald gene in deer that ruins them worse than others.
I think their is
If you look up piebald in deer there are many coat variations
I think the more "fucked up" the coat the more fucked up the animal is probably genetically
Yeah. And there's as many different piebald variations in rabbits, too. I figured it was very much the same, considering that rabbits and deer are pretty closely related on the evolutionary scale.
Also, are all piebald deer genes recessive?
Or are there some that are dominant/incompletely dominant?
Personally I dunno, but judging by how rare a piebald can be and how not rare it can be I think any thing goes
Also curious question isn't megacolon also slightly dangerous for rabbits as well. I'm not sure how true it is, but in addition to making them sensitive to dietary changes, i also heard that it also makes it harder for them to build up nutrients since they have to account for a larger set of organs, hence they have to eat more
It's not really as dangerous as people make it out to be.
The double-dominant "charlies" just eat way more food than the regular rabbits do and you have to be a bit more cognizant about what kind of treats you feed them and what kind of stressful factors are nearby.
I've never had a charlie die as a result of its condition. I've had plenty of other normal rabbits die of digestive issue, though, ironically.
Can it be dangerous for them? Or is it like owning a dog with a sensitive stomach, you just watch and be careful
It's basically just like owning a dog with a sensitive stomach, yes
You just gotta watch their food intake a little better.
The whole "megacolon is a death sentence" was kind of a misinformation train that some breeders were using as an excuse to cull charlies at birth.
Kinda sounds like how people always use the claim we shoot albinos cause they can't breed knowing fully well they can breed, they just probably gonna get eaten before they do
Yep.
And the thing is, too, is that any seriously bad genes like scoliosis, clubbed feet, gastrointestinal issues, etc automatically get culled out naturally.
A deer that can't flee from predators is a dead deer.
If the animal is still running around with its normally colored peers, it's probably doing just fine.
My friend once had a Albino doe give birth in her backyard, they stayed for months and apparently the children often bring their fawns around too
That's really cool
She often sent me pictures, I don't have them anymore but the babies were cute
Deer babies are magically cute
But anyways, good talk!
Genetics is a super fun topic to chat about.
I do see how there's still a lot of information on how genetics actually work in deer and other animals, though.
Inbreeding isn't necessarily a bad thing. You don't get more, better looking, better scoring deer by constantly outcrossing all the time. Letting those big bucks cross back to does with his genes is how you get even more handsome bucks that look like him in coming years.
Granted, that he's not the only viable buck around for an extended period of time.
Then you'll get problems lol
Yeah :D it was fun chatting with you too
Medved has some impressive mountains
Oh fuck
Like it's more mountainous and steep than SRP
YES
woot, haven fun playing 3K totalwar, and i have been playing with the new elephant units, and i think i just have my compition entry for their screenie compition, i call it, Fire and Beasts, or The Linebreakers.. what sounds better 😄
seriously though in the settlement battle, this single unit of 24 elephants killed 1226 men with the loss of only one nelly 😆
they crushed this battle, litterarly
I like “Linebreakers”
yeah i've gone with that too, it made more sense as their very good at causing a mass route... in this battles case, my enermies had not a single pike or spear unit for my elephants to aviod, so they could just plow on through unit to unit, crushing all in their path, causing mass casualteys 😄
welcome to murica
Is that the one VR game?
Sounds fun
it's very
nice photos
the textures in this game are just amazing
how can you have a 'spectator mode' in cotw?
@plush crypt did you take those pics?
yeah few years ago
Very nice
@plush crypt how you taken those pics
The birds are honestly some of the best models in the game
Yeah especially the harlequin
pretty foggy
Is there a way where I can get pics that I made on the PS4 onto my PC?
bro what the hell is ur pfp and name
got the level 4 piebald
Epic
he was a decent gold
I call this the wolf moon on parque
Oh my god it looks like something from Dougal Dixon
Dougal Dixon’s “After Man”
He also made “Man After Man” as a sequel
Both are giga cursed
the design of that creature is amazing
after reading a bit about this book
it seems interesting
i gotta buy this book
have you read it? @main solar
@main solar wow it does
What do you mean?
you can't get more weirdly awsome than Chris riddle, his work with paul stewert for the Edge Chronacles is epic, its a dark and grusomely fantastic fansatly that never stops putting a smile on my face, no matter what other historical book i read full of grim seiges and politacal battles, none yet will make me smile with each chapter then this seriers from my childhood, 🥰 a seriers i have yet to find the last saga secwence, but i must still finsih what i'm reading 1st "the life of ghangas khan" 😀
it was this novel seriers that got me into reading as a child, when little bugger taht i was refused to read a single page, that wasnt a comic.. "astarix the gaul etc" but then mum came home one day with a soingle tiny book, The Stone Pilot... the cover art caught my interest so for the first time i actualy read a book with very few pictures... i then read the whole 1st seriers within two weeks... and again staright after.. then the next followed by the next.. now i'm often reading when i find quite time.. and now thanks to these books am now trying to write my own.. i could not ask for a better inspiration.. 😄
laters guys , its dawn and mum needs me, silly nelly forgot to wash the uniform for my siblings still going to school... 😅 toodlepip
woah.. now don't be offending me by calling me english,,, thats like me calling you a canadain.. 😆 but its a silly mistake, just don't say it to a scotsman or he'll headbutt your face 😆
^he's right about the scotsman thing 🏴
👀
have you guys noticed that the antlers on yukon are just the same antlers that are on the lodge in parque
they should replace them with moose antlers
I think There the same at all maps, I could be wrong tho
i mean yes but thats a mule deer rack, why is it on alaska?
Cuz reusing assets is easier
^ It’s from Parque I believe
Why have it, is there like unexplained lore or something
Why have it everywhere then if not of significance
