Idk what to do in this game anymore lol,I mean the only place where I can really hunt in is Layton lake because I have a lot of feed zones there,but I dont find any other animals in my 2 other maps (Hirschfelden and Cuastro) I mean I just walk around for 1.5 Hours without seeing anything and the bad thing is that I wasted aprox. 9 euros on cuastro and I dont kill anything is there a guide for cuastro?

Go to the spot bring a tree stand and place it right next to the water you get a lot of elk moose and some groups of white tail deer pass through there I would suggest sleeping until it is very late at night and going there and setting up during the night time do you usually find lots of elk and deer that walk through there in the night and then just wait out the day tons of animals walk through there every day

@dark mango there is a way to get through the dangerous reaction mission, theres a few tutorial videos of it on youtube if you search it. the issue with it is you can essentially 'skip' an objective of it and it screws the mission up

weapon pack 1 has the cb-165 crossbow for short range (and the .22lr, the only class 1 rifle); weapon pack 3 has the 30.06 for classes 4-8, I don't own this pack myself but if I'm not wrong this is a very popular weapon

I think the high tech pack includes some archery stuff (a sight I think), otherwise people don't seem to like it

#

overall, every pack usually has 1 or 2 very useful/powerful weapons, and the rest is meh, situational at best

Just keep walking until you find the highlights. Look for the actual tracks and it should give to a general path to follow. I have the active tracks to the torch red color so they are easy to spot. Once you are finding continuous tracks just keep follow. You’ll find droppings as well. These will give you an estimate on when the tracked animal was there last. If the track says old or very old, I typically won’t keep following unless I know exactly what zone they are going to

Is there anyway to make this game behave better with two monitors? For awhile, I used a /borderless setting when launching and set some config option which seemed to help. Now, it seems to have reverted back to its old self, minimizing when I interact with the second monitor.

It's been that way for as long as I can remember. I've just learned to right click instead of left when returning to the game.

I know I changed something in the config, and when I did that, it wouldnt let me change window or fullscreen in game anymore. Well, it would, but I couldn't apply

There was when I did it, I think because when I originally applied the /borderless option, I was in full screen or vice versa

Then I manually had to change it in config, because it would no longer respond to apply in game

Applying changes in-game can sometimes be a pain. You need to click the name of the setting instead of apply. It usually works fine at the main menu though.

So... if I set it to /borderless and then change the game to Fullscreen instead of Windowed if acts the way yours does. If set to windowed mode it functions as intended. Maybe yours is stuck in Fullscreen mode?

@visual cliff These are all my WT zones on my map that I know of. I set the time to 12.15pm then I have set tents up at each zone for ease of travel. The numbers above 9 are the feeding zones I have found and hunt them after drink time ends at 15.30pm. I am on PS4 so might be different for you. Hope this helps you. Oh and you get a lot of ducks in these zones too at these times

Also what's the best thing to do when you say, find a herd feeding and try to call in the bucks, but some females from the herd make the walk around first but you really want the males but aren't confident about your shot

females and low level males will always come first to your calls... that's why I stopped using them

so you want to find the best animal in the group and to position yourself to have a good shot... after that, if you're able to shoot a second and third time, fine; if not, low level animals will probably come back after a while

For Cape Buffalo does the 7mm work? I have Polymer tipped bullets and hit them at 170m twice but no Lung shot. Looked good on the screen and was definitely in the side behind the leg. Was a Mythical and he ran me over. Did the same to a very hard and he laughed at the bullet. Am I too far away?

Actually, i wonder how long or ingame days it takes when a hunting pressure spot goes away? Have one where i killed only 3 animals and it's there already for approximately 1.5weeks. Not normal to me i guess..

It was said in the past that after three in-game days that pressure would start to be cleared by itself. I'm not 100% that's true though and who wants to set there for three days to wait and see anyway. LOL

Anyone on PS4 willing to show me what I’m doing wrong? I can’t seem to get kills... hardly find any animals. Follow tracks to dead ends all the time. And can’t make any money to upgrade to purchase anything. Been trying for over a year off and on... love the game, but can’t seem to get really into it when I get a kill once a week if I’m lucky.

Not on PS4, but typically people scare them off via sight/sound. You can check your codex under "Hunter Profile" to get an idea.

Finding drink zones by water, spotting them from far away will get you to see the most animals.

@slim light as PDubbs said, the most likely reason for your problem is you scare animals off; as a rule of thumb, don't run unless you know what you're doing, crouch when you get to a very fresh poo
and most of all, stalk around water bodies, hide in the bushes and you'll see plenty of animals going to drink

Or on my way I see a track and follow it to nothing. I just can’t seem to advance. One day I sat in a blind for 7 real life hours. And saw 1 doe. Lol

@slim light If it is really far away, I use an ATV, but those scare everything within 400 yards. Otherwise, when approaching a zone, I tend to run until about 400 yards, walk in to 300. then slow crouch at 200 and start calling/glassing/listening with pauses.

Always approach with the wind blowing away from the zone.

For picking up zones, I'll walk up a river system and spot animals, again having the wind blow away from the opposite shoreline I'm glassing.

Can do the same with lakes

The spreadsheets with times help, go to the water when things are drinking. In the beginning, stick with deer until you can get high caliber weapon, like .270 with poly tips.

Huge question. Im playing Hirshfelden, I can't find any animals or animal sign, Im walking in Schonfeldt Fields and just hear the craziest noise. Sounded like a creature calling out nonstop for like 3 minutes, but I get no prompt to see a call and it kinda sounds heinous, like a turnkey gone insane or something.

Did they add creatures into the old maps for Halloween?

@slim light try first layton, or any other map with large plains where you have plenty of visibility and can spot animals from afar
don't worry too much on approaching lakes/rivers, even if you scare animals nearby, you still should be able to see those from the opposite side (just keep in mind the game only renders up to 420m away)

Something I'd like to know, is how can you find out the maximum possible weight an animal can be? In a video of a YouTuber I watch he talks about how some of his best Diamond trophies on the new scoring system were both the 'Highest maximum score and weight'

But how exactly do you know what the highest score an animal can achieve is, and their weight? Is there a chart somewhere that lists what the maximum is? Is it listed somewhere in the game?

Actually gemsbok are one of the only animals where horn size scales are swapped

The females are generally bigger than males

#

You see a lot of diamond female gemsbok but I’ve only ever seen like 4 diamond male gemsbok posted.

Even a level 4 female can make diamond but the male HAS to be level 5 and even then it’s chances are low

The best thing I can suggest to you @ROCK3TH is to get the weapon pack with the 30-06 rifle. For me it was a game changer early on and you can hunt the two animals you mentioned with it.

also use polymer tip rounds whenever possible as they have alot more penitration which is rewarded in this game. It also brings the animal down faster so less tracking involved

No lures for bears, they are easy enough to find as they are very vocal when you get near them. I use 90 fov, but it's different whoever you ask.

Greets, after the update on Ps4 of CotW, after i shot 1silver Blacktail, then at Hirsch, 1 Silver Fallow, 2gold Roe, and 5 gold Fallows, and ALL of those were 100pct quick kills, the Hunt Club stuff gave me nothing, but it counted the kills. Also i saw i was suddenly logged out on the Hunt Club, and could not activate it, have restarted the game and then it worked, it counts, but i still don't see anything that it gives me the extra ingame money, and yes, i got the 7 required 100 quick kills needed (actually i did 8 quick kills and got no extra money at all. but it counts them in the hunt Club menu, which i find very weird. There goes the many extra i could get of it, grrrf
Someone have the same issue pls? (it was on PS4pro, single play)

@last hemlock the .22LR is by far the best weapon for small game. I believe its part of weapon pack 1 DLC. Other than that the best maps would be Layton as it has both Ducks and Rabbits.

Best way to get pistol score is to use the 45 and go to hirsh. and hunt female fallows and roe. Wild boar is a good way to level up.

@hardy bolt I restarted and it went away. But I did read somewhere that you can use your torch and it will show up. That never worked for me though. Good luck as it is IRRITATING.

Yes they do. But higher scoring animals will come to callers a bit slower. They are more cautious so it'll take a bit longer.

Hey does anyone know what would happen if one started a public multiplayer session, people joined, one then left their session and the others continued to hunt?

Would the pressure zones, need zones, dead animals etc from those that joined be on the old hosts map when they get back on?

Or would that then become a direct copy of the original hosts map but nothing will actually be different to when the host left?

I ask this as I was wondering if I left my own session and different people kept joining it could theoretically never end and I would have no control over it

it all depends on what animals you want to hunt, cause every map has low, mid and high class animals

in weapon pack 2 you have the solokhin (classes 3-7) and the grelck, which you can use as a shotgun (classes 1-7 with different ammo) or as a rifle (classes 5-9)

you might also consider archery, though I don't do it myself, maybe somebody could give you advice on this

if you're a newcomer, you might want to stick to the .243, which is a good rifle (2-6)

when pressure is too high, need zones may disappear from that area
so ideally, you want to hunt all over the map, or to be more precise, not overhunt your areas of interest
also, hunting from a stand decreases by a large margin the pressure you create

I saw a Flinter vid where he said, if you get 'tier 4' hunting pressure in an area, it will make the need zone icons disappear but the zone itself won't

so like animals will be very unlikely to use that area, but it's not totally wiped from the map. Unless something's changed, I think that vid was about a year old if I remember?

Soft points do better the closer you are to the animals.
Instead of just straight thru them. The soft points expand and does more damage.

Thank hollow point 454 and go wolf hunting. The hollow takes out quicker
If you can't tell
Try it with the 44 and you will see it

Yeah that happens from time to time. If you go back to the same zone a few times and no males respawn, just kill all the females and it should produce another zone elsewhere. This is just my theory though and has worked a few times for me on my map.

Steam sync doesn't save you if you don't realize the files are corrupted and it uploads to the cloud, I had that happen when I first started the game... lucky was only level 7.

you know so far I've been a bit disappointed by Improvised Blind.
when I took the first level of Only Happy, I definitely noticed that every time it's foggy, my visual meter is a full level below what it normally would be

But improvised blind doesn't seem to work at all in fact, in some cases I seem to be more visible in a bush than I would be crouched out in the open.

I've only ever used the pop out blind, never thought to use others. Mine is set partially in some shrubs that lend to its camo factor. They generally don't spook till i shoot

Did you track the blood down? Non-vital w/ medium bleed rate usually still dies, but not before running a ways first

At least in my experience. For me they only 'get away' aka dont die, when the bleed rate is low or very low

They are a good starting point for money and exp. You can do them while hunting most of the time so it's good.

Also they tend to take you around the map so you explore at the same time too.

30-06 If you can get it. Its good for going for moose,elk and gemsbok

Hey my game crashed when I was hunting an awesome 4 whitetail in Layton. He had one huge antler and one pathetic one and I really wanted him for the laughs. Will he still be on my map when I relog?

New player, was watching videos on loadouts and I'm confused about why they list 4-5 rifles. I have a .22 for 1, .243 for 2-6 and 30-06 for 4-8. No 9 on the map I'm on but when I get the 300 it covers 7-9 so if I can cover every class with 3 why isnt that more popular?

Some like to carry a heavy, as a 4-8 or 4-9 doesn't have as much punch as a .300 or a .338 on higher level animals

The 7mm has trouble with quick kill bonuses on 9s, just a heads up. If you're outside of effective range and you're worried about trophy rating, don't shoot get closer

Ammo type won't help either. I've been trying to get a gold plains bison for my lodge and its a struggle. Luckily though, bison are easy to stalk

#

Also, each bow covers all classes, you just have to change out your ammo
