Yes they sometimes move zones to new areas when they update the game. Its to make it more dynamic. Also if you shoot 4 animals or more in a zone it will dlete the zone

roughly speaking hunting stands tend to be relatively well placed, near bodies of water or areas where animals could feed
but this doesn't mean you're guaranteed see animals whenever you use one of them, least of all see animals no matter what time of the day you go

I have a problem; I shot and killed a Wildebeest and it died where I shot it (my first bow shot too :D) but I can't pick it up. It's sitting on its blood so if I try picking it up, it just examines the blood instead

Lucky enough for me I have a diamond mallard that I didnt shoot yet since a whitetail I got was deleted after I restarted the game

One thing that interests me though is that since the great ones update, my lodges were deleted and were replaced by a very old lodge that I had with a bunch of old silvers and a few golds

I had that problem, but instead of a 130mb, it was the scoring 2.0, so I had to download a few gb once, and then the entire game, and then the update again... I don't know how or why finally got solved, only that I restarted steam and my pc many times

Go into any game, press Escape, then go into inventory on the left side. Click ammo --> arrows, drag and drop them into the ammo slot on the bow

Can someone help me? I've just recently redownloaded Hunter COTW on steam and I'm unable to get it to load. Before it opens it tell me to download the latest Nvidia drivers (what I own) but I have already done that. It launches then four white dots appear in the bottom right corner and it immediately crashes. I've verified the steam files, have the latest software, latest video drivers and it still doesn't work. Sorry if this is the wrong chat but I couldn't find the help section. Note: It works on my laptop which has the same exact driver, software ect. but it doesn't work on my desktop.

Suggestions from Chinese players:
0, first update the driver of the official video card channel
, Steam right-click attribute to check the integrity of the game

After turning off cloud storage and exiting the club, the game is very stable. The flashback occurred in Article 2 and Article 3.
When entering another person's room, there is a very small chance that the room owner will disappear and cause flashback. Or I was kicked out by the homeowner, or because of network fluctuations (my bear kid watching the cartoon to grab the net) caused me to flash back in other people's rooms. Now I only open my own room or stand-alone.
Sometimes the cotw error notification will pop up in the lower right corner of the win10 when you first start the game. After that, you will enter the game and play normally for a few minutes, but the ending will definitely flash back. If you open the game again without notice, you can play the game smoothly. Therefore, if there is an error notification, I directly exit and reopen.
Combining the above three, I haven't happened in one flashback. Hope it helps you

I think it's really daft that you have to waste points on skills you don't want or need to unlock the late-game skills when there's such a limited pool of skill points availible. Which skills do you recommend grinding out?

I've been told that 'Disturbed Vegetation' is good, but I really want Pack Mule, it's just that with my current distribution of skill points it means that I can't have both. Every time my buddies and I try Multiplayer, one of us will leave (disconnect) from the session after a few minutes of play. They are only able to rejoin if myself or another individual in the session leaves the session (they take their place seemingly). Any idea how to fix? So I came back to COTW yesterday and was wondering something. Basically I feel like there is two ways of hunting that are worth while. First is the one I used to have a lot of success with at layton lake. Basically just hunting off of sight. You walk around, see something and shoot it. Today I bought the Weapon Pack 1 and experimented with a different hunting style (with the Crossbow). Which is basically going to a spot with animal activity and spamming animal calls. Something comes close and I shoot it. (with Crossbow) And just repeat.

there is also stalking, you walk around, usually in hirsch or cuatro and when you find tracks, you follow them and stalk the animal.
i dont tknow if people usually do that, but i used to a lot in Hirsch when i was a newbie

.270 or 7mm for Red Deer? On the one hand 7mm is a bigger Caliber, on the other .270 has 4 bullets in the mag

As long as you hit vital, it's all good. They might run further with .270 but you could take another one from the same herd with a good follow up shot which isn't that easy with 7mm.

Hey got a couple questions concerning my whitetail herds. So a few of them just stopped going to their zone. I have like 2 or 3 whitetail zones where they would go to a lot but just stopped after a while. They are still marked on the map, I never had high hunting pressure since I'm almost always shooting them out of stands, having placed them at almost all my whitetail zones by now. Also a few zones only have females, that used to have males. And I have two zones where only one female will show up. Is there any way to like get males back to spawning at those weird zones?

@keen cedar so with the great one update people started noticing that the spawning is happening a bit different than it used to. Sometimes deer respawn in new herds at new zones instead of spawning in their old one. So try looking at new areas

Hey, does anyone have any info on how animal corpses despawn, is it a time thing or a distance thing, and what are the specifics? Just lost probable gold moose due to getting distracted by some caribou and grizzlies and dying, and am wondering whether getting respawned too far away or time taken to get to the spot where it died caused it to despawn. The hit blood splatter is still there.

Hi everyone, I'm still having the same issue. I've just recently redownloaded Hunter COTW on steam and I'm unable to get it to load. It no longer gives me the error to download the latest Nvidia drivers. But It still launches then four white dots appear in the bottom right corner and it immediately crashes. I've verified the steam files, have the latest software, latest video drivers and it still doesn't work. Note: It works on my laptop which has the same exact driver, software ect. but it doesn't work on my desktop.

What use is the duck caller and the decoys, I've never seen ducks flying like geese do, they're always stationary in a lake when I get there or there is nothing there at all.

Decoys apparently make it likelier that there are ducks there, though I haven't tested this enough to be sure of it. Of callers I do not know, I've seen ducks land in a lake once, and that was after I had sacred them from the lake next to it a moment earlier. Did some testing with decoys, caller and blind and never got any come closer or land.

It’s a little more viable now but it can be annoying because sometimes it goes right threw a lung and sometimes it penetrates 1mm into the flesh

You’re exactly right @proper sable I talked to a person who swears they never shot a diamond WT but still found a GO. I have no reason to not believe them. In today’s world that’s hard to be sure of but I’m trusting that person. Seems the GO will just show itself when it wants to. No rhyme or reason.

Top-right of the map, there's two lakes. The one on the left has a wolf rest zone there, along with being a good spot for large Red Deer. I've had good luck up there.

Huddle> species > mule/fallow/caribou/reindeer/etc
The Protector or whichever it is >species > lesser kudu/axis/blackbuck/etc
lLeader of the Pack > species > gray wolf/Iberian wolf

Same with the rabbit multimounts just have the one type and drop down to choose species

@tropic ocean I started put buying Vurhonga map. Ended up buying all of them. I personally am not a huge fan of Cuatro or Medved. I do however enjoy Yukon the most out of all of them. Had a great time in Vurhonga, mainly because I am South African so it’s almost home to me. If I were you, I’ll just buy all of the systematically 👍

anyone know if there is a way to restore your game back after a possible corrupt save file incident? 😭
i dont think it's corrupt but when trying to run the game first thing this morning it asked me to choose between local game files or steam cloud files. I chose the steam cloud files as this was the most recent option and now when i try and run the game its as if i have to start afresh 😭

Once you learn what each of your pins represent, and you get used to being slow, and quiet, or calling stuff in it's fairly easy. You could also look into getting the High Tech DLC. It will give you a nice midweight bow, and a rangefinder sight.

Hunting pressure is only removed if you create pressure elsewhere. At least from my experience. Time is sped up quite a bit, can't exactly remember what the ration was right now tho.

That's true

And you need to pass 4 checks for the best medal: Hit a vital organ (heart, lung, neck, liver), use right ammo, shoot twice or less and not to hit trophy organ (skull mostly). If you pass all those 4 checks, you get the best medal possible from the animal. If you fail one or more of them, your animals medal will be downgraded by one. Meaning gold animal would show as silver.

Brain is also a vital organ but since you shouldn't shoot the skull for most animals I left it out from the list.

For small game you don't need to hit vital tho.

I don't think any antlers, tusks or horns have colliders / hitboxes so you can't hit them.

I wish they had tho. Then antlers wouldn't fall underground when animal dies.

Haven't tried shooting any antler tho, maybe they have hitbox and count towards messing up the trophy organ 🤔

But not a single time during my playtime I've seen a hit on the antlers / horns.

@thorny gulch You might've shot all the males in that herd? I hunt exclusively on Hirschfelden and notice some males tend to go alone. No experience w boar yet as I'm new but this is what I notice with other animals.

Yep it’s the same with some of the species. Meaning on Layton there’s huuuge herds of 15-30 female elk roaming around and bachelor groups of males roaming around on their own. Back when elk where “scoring properly” I shot a diamond elk who was all by himself and no others around. So there can be herds of females or males all by themselves.

So I had the same problem with classic and everytime I wanted to play online or single player it said an error occurred so I tried everything to fix it but nothing worked and what I did was searched %appdata% opened the file and deleted every file of classic permanently and u installed it from steam and installed it again and it worked

You can just take second gun with larger caliber to cover 4-6 yes, but it probably doesn't cover 2 and 3 like .243 does since they would get vaporized
