@sour haven consecutive harvest only impact cash and xp; harvest check needs to be perfect to get whatever the trophy animal is, if you fail one or more checks, the medal is downgraded; max level is not necessary for max trophy, though the higher the level, the higher the chance it'll be so

Hi folks, what should I do if I can no longer find Ibex Gredos and Southeastern with gold status. All the herds have a maximum of only slightly up to 93. I have no idea why. Don't shoot a lot and if only then selected animals. Thank you for your help!

For some reason the Vurhonga Savanna reserve crashes every time I select the reserve. All of the other reserves in the bundle pack load and operate fine. I have tried reinstalling, clearing data and completely resetting xbox to factory and downloading again? Anyone else experiencing this issue?

@dire ice eh, my PC is overheating because of that xD I think the two best ways to disable it are: (1) running the game in windowed-fullscreen mode (instructions somewhere) because Windows/Video cards usually do not apply anti-aliasing in windowed mode, and (2) disabling it/forcing it off in drivers control panel for your video card (like the Software Radeon/Catalyst)

usually when animals are travelling in 1 direction (towards you) and you spook them away, theyll come right back along that path so even with bears i just sit on their path and wait for them to walk back

however, for a good part of those hours I'd just shoot everything I saw, which isn't a good way to make high trophy animals spawn, from what I've read
now I only shoot high trophy animals and I hope it'll work
it also doesn't help that I don't focus on one single reserve, so I guess the results of this "policy" will take longer to show
of course, I assume the stealth skills are mandatory, and try not to run often, since animals will often hear you before you can see them, especially in reserves like hisrschfelden, where visibility isn't great

I just feel that I'm missing some fairly big gameplay mechanic, cause everyone else seems to be finding rare coats and diamonds (and even golds). I've checked the help tab in-game and I couldn't find anything. I've seen pics of people hunting herds of animals, but I'm yet to see a large enough group. 3 is as largest I've seen in the week or two

So this is how the Norden outpost lake looks every night in my game
I've been stalking this herd every time I enter the game, mainly because I'm hoping for a rare fur variant to show up

There's actually 2 different herds that congregate in the lake, the one in the screenshot (mostly females) and another one to the right of the photo that's mostly males
Even with like 20 different Roosevelt around this lake at any given time and after about 5 days of checking it I've found nothing rare
Anyone got any tips? Am I supposed to start murdering the herd so that rares can spawn. Or will one just show up eventually?

All of my animals are showing their score rather than their trophy ratings and all of them were taking after 2.0 is there any way to fix this?

If you shoot and injure an animal and it doesn't die what happenes to it if you quit and come back? Does it remain in the game does it forever remember your failed first attempt?

That is the best possible news I could have been given. I was shooting at my first ever Albino animal Blacktail Deer. I didn't realize my scope range was way off and only gave it a flesh wound and it ran off I lost it and it never died even 15+ minutes later. I have a shot at redemtion lol

Yes, what does it do for "herd management"? Because there was a discussion about someone changing game files in the beta to find the easter egg and I have no idea what that would do for the animals in the game

@agile jolt for the EE some players copied over their normal game files to the Beta files. This allowed them to have all their weapons, lodges for fast travel etc. When you participate in a Beta you start the game over essentially in Beta so you have no perks, guns, lodges etc. Now that Beta is over they will go back to their original game from before beta with no changes. Nothing from beta comes into their actually game file. Does that answer your question?

what most people do is kill all the high level males in a herd, and hope the respawns will make them higher, another way is to do the opposite, with only killing the low level males, so thats its mostly high levels overall
starting out in the game, you wanna do the killing all the high level males for more cash and xp per kill, but when youre higher in the game and just wanna see lots of high levels maybe just as a looks thing, then do the killing the low levels to get higher bucks overalll

from what I understand (based more on reading other players than my own experience), the point of killing the highest trophies you see is so they respawn as high trophy again, hopefully diamonds, BECAUSE trophy levels on respawn supposedly are based on the existing trophy levels of the current population
if this is correct, then killing lots of low level animals and leaving the high level ones would spawn only low levels, since at the moment of respawn the population would be mostly high level (let's assume the higher the level, the higher the trophy on average)
so... either one of those strategies don't actually work, or we just don't know how respawn works (or I don't myself anyway)

the killing lowers, will just have them spawn higher gradually, not excatly and not immediately into diamonds
the killing highers, will have them spawn higher faster
so like if you kill all level 1 65-70 bucks, they gradually get to 70-85 and so on (killing lowers)
killing all the level 2 85-100s have a higher and faster respawn into level 3 85-100s (killing highers)

Hello my dearest hunters. I have no bears sounds on Yukon Valley so others in MP too not having bears sonds. After having that trailblazer beta, with nice new animals sounds I recognized after downgrading (back to normal) the missing bear sounds in Yukon Valley first in SP and later, tonight also in MP does anyone knows something about it? And will it be fixed again?

@last hemlock That was what the trailblazer beta was for. To test the changes that were implemented. One of the changes was the sound of the grizzlies on Yukon. Once the beta content becomes a finalized update you will update the current live version of the game to match the stuff that was in the trailblazer beta(some of the glitches with fabled piebalds and other easter egg related items may not be included as they were said to have been glitches)

Well.. I'm stuck at a beginning quest of Layton Lake, in which you must take 2 bears in pic. I took a first photo of 2 bears (only one was registered), and a second with one bear, but it doesn't finish the quest, it stays stuck at 1bear/2

@gentle flame Two different bears, two different pics. You might have accidentally picked the bear that the first pic registered as being the "correct" one, and it didn't count it

Oh 1 last tip about the .243. Yes, it's the "starter" rifle but it's not a bad rifle, very good for coyote and pretty good for Blacktail and whitetail on Layton lakes. A fair few experienced players (myself included) still carry it.

It depends, is it from the same animal? How long has it been since you've shot it? Are you sure it's not a case of the animal doubling back on itself after it's been shot?

Try to learn about the need zones, movement is also good to keep in mind.
If you run or walk there's a good chance that all the animals will be spooked.
About the spine shot i don't know anymore, few months back it was pretty good, pretty much instant kill.
Now i prefer penetrating ammo and double lung shots, or heart if the animal is front facing me.

that used to be a sure way to get 100% quick kill but that all changed
i would say walk around till you see or hear an animal, then try to get close and get a shot only when the animal is facing you sideways
also sitting in one spot and calling the animal over to you can be even more effective than sneaking up close yourself

I dont think there is a single game ive played since counterstrike 1.5 where there are not bugs and issues. The game runs well there are issues yes, the devs work on them not much else we can ask for. at least it isnt like pubg where you couldnt even cut your parachute to play the game and they were developing a mobile game instead of fixing it

I don't know what games do you play, I don't know a single game with SO MANY issues of all kinds in twenty years of gaming; like I said, not on release, not just after a big expansion but as a permanent state, week after week, year after year
again, I wouldn't be here, I wouldn't keep playing, I wouldn't buy dlc's and I wouldn't complain if it wasn't because I LOVE the game

if the especulations on animal spawn are true, and the optimal way to spawn high trophies is to kill high trophies, then it must be a long process: think of how many herds of a given species there are on a map; now, kill the several high trophy males in that group... which doesn't guarantees a diamond will spawn at all; keep doing the same thing and eventually they'll spawn
but like I said, we're talking on spending quite a few hours just on one species on one map, and hoping for the best
so if you play each day a different map and hunt whatever you run into... fat chance
that's how I imagine it is anyway, I've hunted one fucking diamond in 200 hours so... what the hell do I know

New topic... I'm having difficulty getting long (400yd+) shots due to the draw distance of the animals. I'll be looking at a resting animal sitting in one place, and it'll disappear if i walk back enough. As a note, I've got all graphics settings on their highest.

the only reason for the 420m limitation is technical, otherwise it doesn't make any sense, and it's even immersion breaking and kinda hurts the gameplay

I shot a lvl 3 piebald moose, but when I shot it it showed hunting pressure I figured that since there was hunting pressure, it died. I went over to where I shot it, and all I see are walking tracks and old droppings. No blood, or any other tracks. Any help?

I used to think the center of the brown circle was where the animal dies, but it's actually where it was shot at
if you're 100% sure there are not blood tracks in that spot, it might be something weird

@hybrid sail MP: different people hunt different parts of maps, so you might find good things on other peoples maps because they haven't looked there.
And when being in MP you get the need zones that others find on your map.

Is there something me and my friend are doing wrong? Any time we play multiplayer it is as if 90% of animals just sit 150+ meters away and never come closer. We are descenting, calling, hidden in trees, etc. We are both bow users, so this absolutely sucks when animals just don't come in. And then it becomes discouraging because you end up not knowing when the hell you should set up shop and wait for animals, cuz who knows if they even come in. In singleplayer almost everything comes in fine. We arent wearing backpacks or anything like that. It's just mind boggling at this point, and feels really much like a bug. It doesn't feel working as intended if it only happens in multiplay, and I mean seeing animals just hover in one spot barking/bleating at you over and over at exactly 140-150 meters...
Like we will play together, and then I'll get annoyed and just get off the game after 5 hours... and then within 30 minutes my friend sends me a screenshot of 25 damn elk suddenly under his tree.

And we both have all of the Ambusher perks which make calls, and scents better. I'm in a tree stand, and he is in a Tripod, so we are pretty hidden. Wind in our face blowing in the opposite direction of the animals.

There's even been times where I get off the game, but we talk on discord and stream to eachother, so he will still be streaming the game, and I can see suddenly all the animals come in.
And yep, just left the game, sure enough watching his stream and the deer that was hovering at 150m is now walking up to him.

On multiplayer I look for a server with low ping, but every time I press I to open the screen MY ping always says 0. The hosts will be anywhere from 60-300 but mine is always 0. How do people tell when the server is good connection? is it looking for low ping in the host? Sometimes I can have my husband join the server and he can press I to check my ping and it'll be like 50-90, but is there a way to check it when I cant log in on his account?

When you spot an animal, in the upper right corner is there health, it's usually 75 - 100% right underneath that is a number, it seems to be green. what does that number mean? the number in a herd? It's not the difficulty of the animal, as that's in a different spot on that info portrait.

Help me! , my cotw suddenly started lagging so much to the point that I almost can't move. it was't like this yesterday. lowering my graphics settings isn't working I have been able to play on the highest settings before without problems. even tried to uninstall and then installing it again didn't work. anybody know about a fix for it?

I use caller its for 500m i see ducks on the other side of lake its 250m im calling and not even 1duck is answering. I cant see they even flyong on the sky. @magic geyser First, check your need zones; maybe you've seen signs in the region before. I'll assume you've done that though, so next, I'd look around on steam/google for a comprehensive map of need zones and times. I can't recall where I found it, but should be easy.
I second the lake advice as well. Definitely try different times by resting in an outpost. That may turn up something else. I had issues finding enough red deer droppings in the gorge for over a week. One day, there was a whole herd of tracks, so it's really up to the in-game time you walk through.
Also, some people get annoyed if the same message gets posted in two different chats. I think your request fits better here, so that's where I'd suggest posting your future questions. Hope my ramblings help a bit, but really, just keep trying. It'll happen eventually.

The birds in the sky are not fake per say but they can not be harvested and offer no reward other than target practice.

IMO, the DLC is worth it, but after you get a couple more reserves. Just hunt mallards at Layton Lakes. If you want more birds, you'll get harlequin ducks at Yukon and cinnamon teal at Parque Fernando. In terms of new species, if you like grizzlies, wolves and caribou, go Yukon, and if you're more interested in blackbuck and axis deer, get Parque. Both have a sort of buffalo.

Got another really random question for you all in here. I am not sure if anyone on here that plays PC uploads screenshot to xbox live or clubs within xbox live, but it there is someone I need your help.
It appears that captured screenshots remove the : from the title which has to have the exact game name or it will not upload. Obviously :'s are invalid characters in file names. I tried adding a unicode character that looks identical but that fell short as well.

Piebald is uncommon and albino is rare. I've seen probably five piebald and no albino.

When I get to the spot where the animal was hit initially and then ran off, should I basically be in the crouch/prone position the whole time? I sometimes feel like as I am following the animal it hears me comming and just keeps going. 3 times now I have hit a deer and tracked them a good 300 meters and the trail just goes cold, no more tracks, poop, or blood.
On the other hand maybe I am too slow and I should be booking it.

If you shot it vitally it should die rather quickly. I always stay put and look at the map to see if there’s a pressure mark that pops up (the purple spot) and then I go after it bc I know it’ll be dead at the end of the trail. If there’s no spot or you didn’t get it well also stay put bc there’s a chance it could come back

try to aim at the lungs while the animal is broadside, it's the easiest way

@chrome loom a telling statistic for me is, 95% of the animals I've scared in-game was because of the noise I was making. The other 5% was because of sight or smell.

@candid forum my tip number 1 is not to expect them. Dont look for them and they will come to you. And the second one is to wait. If you see a herd comming in, dont blast the first animal that comes, usually diamond animals come the last and are the first ones to run away

Make sure your zeroing is set to normal/middle range if you run the zero perk and you're good to go with the tables in the guide
If you're using high or low zeroing you'll have to manually compensate, and it might not be as easy as adding +-20m due to exponential drop etc

Hi, so usually when shooting with bow against a tree or something for practise, being zeroed to 20m and standing close to the tree practically hits where the crosshair is. Whenever I shoot a nearby animal though, like 5/10 times, the arrow will hit at a completely different location than where I aimed (animal being only a few meters in front of me). For example, about 15m away I aimed exactly at an idling deer's lungs. You know what happened? The arrow hit his knee, and I had to track it down. So my question is, is the randomness in bows (I have no perks yet) really that awful, because this is not enjoyable at all. Or is there some kind of wind that goes "down", or am I doing something else wrong?

Idk I’d say go to the shooting range @errant cedar I use the compound bow 75% of the time and rifle the other 25% and never have any issues. If I do it’s always user error. The wind can play a factor if it’s strong enough as well.

Why when zeroed to 300m and I shoot at targets below that (15m, 35m, 100m), it still goes exactly to where the crosshair is? I thought you have to adjust based on the range?

Depends what weapon you’re shooting @errant cedar I’ve spent time at shooting range and found the .06 doesn’t really move much off the crosshairs much until u get to 350-400 yds. Go spend time at range with your weapons and learn how they preform. Same with the bows. Shoot them a lot and learn them.

Most common problems with the patch in ascending order of severity:
-melanistic Mouflons, Mallards and Brown Bears are very common
-some animals in the lodges can appear without horns/antlers
-some shoulder mounts have the full body, resulting in weird animal butts poking out of walls
-some animals in the lodges can have their skin either replaced by something else or appear as common but be classified as null, with nothing written under the fur section of the screen
-some people are finding lv10-fabled Caribou; those are NOT a feature! Killing and harvesting them will result in a crash!
-some trophies can disappear altogether from the game
-some trophies in a lodge could make the game crash whenever you try to enter your lodge, to solve this you have to remove them, possibly through a second lodge; Caribou seem to be causing this crash but other animals might do as well
-for some players the lodge may appear completely empty
-some players reported having their lodges missing altogether
I would advise either not launching the game or to avoid entering your lodges until a hotfix is released

Some of these have probably been originated by the tweaking of the Red Deer melanistic spawn rate
Others from the several other tweaks introduced in this patch, the great one Whitetail was only one of the things they added
