Yea puma are difficult with them being a big predator, I generally just find their zones and set up BEFORE they get there

But yea, if you’ve got it, use tripods. The height will give you the advantage as you can see farther and it’s easier to spot animals

I used to climb up in rocks and cliffs before tentripods came out

The higher level the puma the quicker they’ll flee too, level 8s are a pain in my back, I’ve never stumbled across a level 9

My friend and I tracked the puma and mulie both for close to three hours. Never got the mule because it wouldn't even come within 200 meters with calls, with scent eliminator, downwind, hidden fully and not making sound

Bows are quieter than a rifle. Say you were calling in a Red beast of a deer and a female gets to you first and the male is still a distance off say 100m then you could take down that female and the male wouldn't spook.

Its good for taking down pesky females that come too close while you're waiting for the big buck to come in.

It depends on what you're hunting. If you're going for small game like foxes or roe deer then it's perfect for it. If you're going for all game, then use a bow with a 3 types of arrows

Bigger animals are a pain to take down. Best way is a heart shot on a moose. For me I use the Rhino handgun because its a beast plus I know I can take a follow up shot if needs be and still get a 100% integrity.

There isn't really a bow for 150m shots.

600 grain arrows are a beast but still have trouble taking down bigger animals.

Yeah, at the moment there s a bug on Parque that makes the animals bug out and glitch when they're on steep terrain. I've seen it happen, it was funny at first at least until it happened to a mythical puma that I wanted in my lodge

I aimed for broadside, but when it was bugging out it apparently registered the shot as a non vital organ hit

I honestly hope sand pray that Parque gets fixed it's one of my favorite maps also

hi guys - anyone got any bright ideas? I was a bit of a doofus, and placed a tripod too close to a watering hole. Now it seems, because my character can't swim - I cant wade out deep enough to reach the 'bag' to dismantle the tripod and pick it up again. Is it doomed to stay there forever now?

tried that... was almost successfull - was able to drive under the water, but as soon as you get off, it realises you're too deep into the water and teleports you to shore. i tried a few times like getting close, dismounting the quadbike, spamming E near the pickup point - but no luck

Try placing a tent as close as you can to it then fast travel to other areas. You sometimes get that beaver message when you place tents and stands too close to one another and the stand gets put back into your inventory

It might take a little while for you to get the message, you usually get it after fast traveling. I'd just leave a tent there and forget about it for a few days if it doesn't work straight away and you've exhausted all other avenues.

Put pressure on an animal you want a diamond from, and then just hope that you hunted that species enough to get a diamond. That s how I've gotten mine so far

The birds are easy to get diamonds out of so try them first

(Actually, it was also recommended way back in the day if the populations got affected by a certain bug that'd more or less hinder new populations from spawning)

Also, sometimes save games get broken or stuff deleted at random so upon restoring it'll have to generate a new one anyway

So hopefully if an anti-cheat is added in the future it's AFTER saved games don't get randomly deleted anymore.

My friend still had to restore a save after the update that said that saves should no longer be getting screwed up like that.

Yes there is some bullet drop at longer ranges. All rifles are zeroed in at 150m by default. To test the bullet drop and learn your guns, go to the hirschfelden map and there is a gun range (provides infinite ammo) to help with that on the lower right of the map.

have you tried setting up a tent inside of the area, then leaving, changing maps, go back to hirschfelden, change time to night and fast travel to the tent.

that way you cant spook the animal on your way to the selected area.

@last hemlock single player is story mode. You’ve got optional quests and tutorials on how to do things, along with your own animals on your maps. Multiplayer is no story mode, different competition mode and using either your map wi th other people hunting your animals or using someone else’s map hunting their animals

As for the first, hirsch is way more noisy then Layton is, but your trees are gonna make a lot of noise and so are any bushes/brush.

Water helps dampen your noise but just a little

@last hemlock this is where to come for help and advice. Animals hearing you before they see you's normal. Until you have some levels and can get a perk which lessens the noise you make when moving through bushes and shrubs, you're best off going around them or tapping the go-prone key to minimise your sound level.

Being in multiplayer or not doesn't factor into better or worse animals if it's your instance. Single player lets you play the story missions, which grant bonus credits on completion. Several of them will also spawn diamond-level or rare fur type animals for you to shoot, further boosting your earnings.

yeah, bears are class 2, and moose are class 4, I didn't know classes directly affects how hard it is to take down an animal, I thought moose are just as easy as normal deers, but they are actually much harder to defeat than bears

The different class are used to tell a hunter what power rifle you need to use to kill an animal quickly (quick kill) providing you make a good shot. Even if you make a good shot on a moose with the 243 it would keep running where as if you use the 338 the penetration will make sure the animal dies fast. It’s all about quick kill bonus

@last hemlock Hi there. I'm having the same issue. Impossible to make him spawn and no tracks of him in the entire area after searching for like 30mn with ATV. I tried a lot of things (disabling missions in settings, planting tent then reloading the game, change time etc) and nothing works

for info : disabling and re-enabling missions do make respawn mission tided animals (tried with first hunt when entering a new map)
so for now i'm doing the side missions to see if any of them is interfering with the main mission

@lean oracle I've seen a lot of people use the .300 once they buy it since it has a four-shot mag. Also see mixed feelings on the .470 nitro which seems to have inconsistent performance. I've tried both, and the .300 wins for me due to coming with the scope plus its magazine size.

Are albino water buffalo rare? I've seen 4 around this one lake and I have a feeling they're like the leucistic mule deer, not common but not rare either

Another thing, where do I aim on them? It feels like their brains are nonexistant, did they change it so lungs are better now?

For buffalo brain shots I’ve found it’s best to aim right in between their horns where the seam is(cape) and for the other two in the middle of the head between the horns. Water, plains and European have a flat head look and it’s easier to aim in the middle

600gr with both penetration perk levels on water buffalo just now gave me 84% QK. I'll shoot some more and see if that's rng or consistent.

And that's with double lung.

Second water buff: 79% QK with double-lung shot. Level 6 to the previous one being Level 5.

It's easier to get 100% quick kill with the 600gr arrows on bison by literally skewering them all the way through. Hit as many organs as possible by taking 3/4 or (almost) straight-on shots.

how does shotgun slugs from 12 to 20 compares to normal rifle ammo? like, is 20 more similar to .243 and 12 is to .338 or something?

The slugs for the 20g are probably the most versatile. They're rated for game slightly bigger than blacktail and slightly smaller than brown bears. So it's like a slightly heftier .243 that can take on class 3 animals at close range.

You can use that on all animals for an instant kill

More penetration is your best bet for shots like that

Expansion is great for single lung shots. Expansion rounds will down animals faster with single lung shots than penetration rounds that only hit one lung.

But if you're trying to take heart, brain, and neck shots, penetration is your go-to

If the projectile doesn't hit the brain, it'll treat it as a no-organs hit and the critter will run off.

Pretty much. Softpoints are good for long-distance shots when you can't rely on penetration to hit heart or two lungs, but they need to be taken from the right angle to hit a lung or they don't fall as fast.

though, tbh, I usually just use polymer tips from inside 150m and aim for hearts more than not.

anyone else having trouble with tripods in multiplayer? me and one other friend set up tripods very close to each other. wind was perfect . animals like female blacktail deer spooking at 70 m away from us.
