Spawn distance is not affected by the range trait. This is the biggest issue with the skills viability.
Skill cannot crit (only the spike upgrade when despawning).
Skill tooltip in menu shows nothing.
It feels like it does not trigger the leeching finger artifact.
Skill deals minimal damage, even spending all potions on it barely makes it better than a defiant plate.

Can attest to this i have experienced it too, and not just undergrowth but also prismatic cascade. Many stats dont seem to interact with the new skills at all
