Severe Lag When Using Translations Due to Special Characters in Name

Here’s the issue: My Steam name contains special characters. When I enter the game, it automatically assigns my Steam name to my character. However, since the game seems unable to process special characters, they are not displayed—only the remaining English characters appear. I didn’t think this would cause any problems, so I skipped the renaming process.

If I play the game in English, everything runs smoothly. However, when using a Workshop translation, the game experiences severe lag whenever a name containing special characters appears on the screen—even if those characters are not visible.

I attempted to rename my character using the in-game renaming feature, but any character name containing special symbols cannot be changed. Even when I stand in front of a mirror and press the rename button, nothing happens.

Would anyone be kind enough to help me modify my character’s name so that I can play smoothly until the game is patched? I would truly appreciate it. Thank you!

You can change your character name in town with the mirror

Yes, I’ve tried that, but even when I press the rename option, nothing happens. I tried with characters that don’t have special symbols, and those were able to be renamed without any issues.

and it's not displayed with the language mod enabled? What happens if you create a new character with the default steam name with the translation mod?

The issue is caused by the 🐾 symbol, but the game doesn't actually display this symbol.

Yes, I have exactly the 🐾 emoji on my character name, which was also my steam profile name.

and when you try changing your name, you have tried deleting the whole name?

then writing a new name from scratch?

and does this issue persist when you use a new character with a randomized name?

Yes, I tried creating a new character, deleting my entire name, and renaming it. This worked and didn’t cause any bugs. However, I don’t want to give up my old character.
