I'm running MC 1.18.1 with paper build 216, but the latest stable version (1.20.1) of essentialsx tells me it's on an unsupported version of MC and it lowers the netty maximum message length to 2048 characters, breaking command block editing. Is there no support for 1.18.1?

I've been putting off rebuilding the modpack from scratch on curseforge, since if I'm upgrading, I might as well go to 1.21. Ever since the neoforge split though, a lot of my favorite utility/QoL mods are unavailable, or are only available for different modloaders from each other within the same MC version... so I'm basically trying to limp along with 1.18.1 on life support 😭

Late reply but you really should at least use 1.18.2 on your server (1.18.1 has known exploits, as does nearly every version of Spigot/Paper that isn't the latest patch release).
If you're concerned about wanting to run a 1.18.1 client instead and are happy with the risks locally, you can use ViaFabric on your client or ViaVersion on your server for cross compatibility
