Hit level 5, first impression overview:
- The first thing I was greeted with loading into the game was streamer highlights...why? As a newbie I don't care about that.
- The absence of direction in navigating the UI is worrying. I have played League, Smite, HOTS I do know how to navigate these menus but someone genuinely new to MOBAs or gaming in general does not. That's an uninstall moment right there
- Your tutorial content being voiced over videos exclusively excludes people who would prefer to refer to text (me) or those who respond better to doing a thing while being guided (interactive tutorials)
- Completely obfuscating the existence of other game modes until level 5 is a confusing choice...in fact I uninstalled initially for this reason. I only reinstalled because I thought "there is no way a game that intends to be competitive doesn't have a practice mode, it has to be locked somewhere" Most newbies will not think like this and quit out of frustration.
- Not being able to view what you can expect to unlock from future account level rewards adds to the above problem.
- The complete absence of guidance on the game's control scheme is also a bad move imo. The game immediately assumes "this person already knows how a 3d MOBA works". That is not a good assumption. The characters are approachable enough the genre notoriously is not however, teach people.
- Relying on a Discord to teach/inform on even bare minimum functionality isn't community building, it's offloading a job you should have been sorting from literal minute 1.
