You can also just play safe in the midlane. The lane is quite small and you cant get punished as much

Not to say you dont get punished at all, but its far less than what a counter pick does in the offlane

Fengmao isn’t just a jungle offlaner, he’s an assassin and assassins have always been a strong pick in the mid lane so I’m not even sure where you’re getting this notion from in the first place. The mid lane can belong to almost anyone
