#Omeda.... You should be encouraging people to play, not watch others play

Its nice to see the twitch drops be open to everyone, but i don't get your retention systems. The people that will do it for the items most likely will just afk, and the people watching will always be there to watch.

I know we got a battle pass, but this should just extend onto the battle pass then. I don't know, just from what i see you do Omeda just hasn't been cooking and i wanted to share my feedback, as a former streamer/creator.

Yes i know its something extra, it doesnt effect me, but i dont grasp this. especially when some people may be traveling etc, and can't earn whatever cosmetic it is for that day. Omeda needs to focus on retention, not playing slimy games like this.

A papaya post I agree with pOg

An everyday log on would have been better or something similar, not a fan of the “watch others play for rewards” kind of event

I’ll continue to say it. It’s incredible how many smite features would do so well for our game…
Why are we so adamantly refusing to emulate what another MOBA in a very similar situation to us did to achieve success???

#

Countdown Que timers.
Login streaks.
God packs.
The way they set up their skin pricing.
The way their rank system worked when their population was under 50k active players

Active items. The way their controller inputs are set up.

The way they’ve monetized in general.

As a reddit comment put it,

I've earned more stuff watching Pred than playing it

I've earned more free stuff playing League for 1 month than Pred in 2 years.

#

I mean, I'm pretty sure they do the watching campaigns to try and inflate the Twitch numbers so that more people come

#

But at the same time, there's very little in the way of retention systems

In the 2024 summary video they said that the Twitch drops were being great for them and for the contents creators, so I suppose they do this as is good for them, but from the player perspective all these rewards would have been better as something that you get from the game by doing missions, by being a separate mini battle pass (showing that we can have more than 1 even at the same time), by being a daily logging reward that encourages people to play 1 game each day or in any other way, any of those would give value to the game itself, instead of having that value moved to Twitch

#

Maybe they just don't have the system in the game ready to allow to do that kind of things

tough shard
#

If that’s the case then why not?! Basic systems the community has requested since EA.

Omeda rather use twitch drops as artificial marketing. My guess is they think this might impact player count better than a pass or daily log ins.

verbal osprey
#

It inflates the numbers for new players, but I'd argue they don't retain a lot

#

I hate comparing to Marvel Rivals but that game keeps going strong for its playerbase despite looking jankier

Well said. I like this game and want to play it more, but looking at how the battle pass is set up, and the tight window on these exclusive holiday 'Predmas' twitch drops while many people are certainly traveling for the holidays is very uninspiring and has diminished my will to commit or even play. I personally enjoy collecting novelty items and icons for my favorite games, but trying to keep up and collect everything will drive you to madness with how Omeda is doing it.

I can certainly see why you would say things feel slimy or underhanded at the very least, and that breeds uncertainty for the future.

I would also like to know what they were hoping to achieve with this decision to punish people who left their houses to celebrate the holidays with family?

I disagree with your whole post.

Drops are a good way to help streamers afk or not.

We as players get free stuff.
And if you are not able to turn your phone on silent for an hour to get the drop, it is not slimy you are just to dumb tbh.

All this does is give soulreaper and pinzo extra 10 dollars in ad rev a day for 12 days

#

I mean we get stickers, and I guess another cosmetic that was already used

So why not allow the ability to earn it both ways then. As I've said, I appreciate them allowing all streamers to give drops though, also I have many issues with omeda so I have some major bias 😉

Giving an incentive for people to watch the content creators for all the free promotion = bad. Logic.

#

If you want true incentive for people to play the game, implement actual fomo. This BP is eh.

#

or

#

bare with me.

#

Make the game fun. Which seems to be the real problem people have. But thats all just weak mental issues. Its fun when they win, its not fun when they lose. Not realizing they aren't always going to win = tilt. tilt = game not fun.

#

They should add daily/weekly rewards. 100% agree on that. But we have nothing to truly work for outside of a battlepass. Its not like we can earn platinum or achievement related things.

#

But criticising them giving people a reason to watch the free promoters of the game is mega L take

verbal osprey
#

And their audience as well

feral python
#

I've watched a bunch of sponsored streams for games I had interest in, have maybe gotten 1 game. In my 10 years of watching stuff on twitch.

#

So that doesn't really have any correlation to the game being fun as to why people don't have an interest in it. I have fun playing this game, but its stale to me. But I appreciate them giving incentive to the free promoters of their game.

Playing for rewards can be done on stacking days

#

Play 1 game to earn X, which unlocks the next quest of playing 1 game to earn Y, etc

#

And the second quest is unlocked for completion on the next day

#

Hell

#

Could've been part of the battle pass

#

In general making FOMO rewards during this time period feels bad

north pike
#

If the game had an amazing in game content then there would be no problem with having the Twitch rewards, the problem is when the game is really dry aside the new battle pass (and even the battle pass isn't as good as it should be) and when they have the game content is this poorly state, instead of directing the resources to improve the in-game rewards, they use those resources for Twitch rewards, that is the problem

sacred kettle
north pike
#

For that is more important to have a good and engaging in-game content first, and when you have that problem solved you can start trying to invite more people to your game, neglecting the in-game content to use to resources to try to lure more people into that game with poor in game content seems a really bad strategy idk

#

For that people are always saying that they first have to focus the efforts in the in-game content, and even if the Twitch drops are a good thing the in-game content should go first

Pred has very little wow factor

Marvel rivals has a huge comic universe

Pal world had Pokemon with guns and Tok tok

Predecessor has history of a game that shut down due to fortnite and a YouTuber CEO.

Unfortunately the gamescon trailer was apparently ugly to many of the people watching it

There needs to be a incentive to play and come back

For new people that is

I don't think I've ever clicked a game due to drops on twitch. And I know I'm only one , but if I don't then idk if a casual will

Also I am / was a content creator for pred so...

#

I see a lot of people that never saw pred from my shorts

Not my streams.

sacred kettle

Well if pred start doing drops on YouTube shorts business would be booming lol

But I see your point
But the more people that do see content from pred, the better. That's just a fact. I've seen games due to streams and drops that I've fell in love with

You are correct. Unfortunately, their rewards and business model is not encouraging or engaging for the f2p player base, it feels very hollow and lackluster, not much opportunity to gain anything unless you are sitting home on Twitch and reading their Twitter every day. It's a very 'closed gate' type of system for dedicated spenders only (time or money). It wasn't obvious to see this when EA first opened up but now with how everything rolled out and implemented, I imagine, from the looks of it, they would prefer to build the game around a peaking player population count of 20 players each spending $10,000 per month on the game versus 50,000 active players spending $0.00 - $0.50, and herein lies the problem. (Numbers exaggerated for context obviously)

Twitch drops aren't significantly helping the game gain much more exposure or audience when a dozen plus other more popular and trendy titles on Twitch are also doing drop campaigns with a cozier f2p atmosphere. Also agree with your other statement, resources allocated into the wrong funnel. 😏

announcements and informations are so cluttered i always had the feeling that i was missing something since omeda doesnt bother to announce events in their actual game or in steam. you have to create several accounts on different social media platforms to get certain infos. therefore i stopped caring entirely about all this event stuff.

#

i just checked steam and the last activity is from 19.11.2024. imagine being a new player and looking at that activity page. they would get the impression that soon 3 months of nothing happened. i mean whenever i got a new multiplayer game i NEVER checked discord, twitter, facebook, reddit and whatnot for infos on that game. this is the first and only game i bothered with discord, because otherwise i wouldnt know when what comes up. and i only did that because i wanted to be involved during the early access development. for that it was okay. but months after launch. man this game looks almost dead when you look at steam. it baffles me how omeda makes it so hard to get infos about their game.
