Reproduction Steps:
Attempt to Launch Predecessor via steam client

Expected vs. Actual Behavior:
Shoul launch the game and NOT crash

Mouse Keyboard PC- Game Version V0.19

Log Files:
NA

I randomly (and i sincerely mean randomly) get this error consistently which seems to last for up to 2 days despite the fixes the internet has come up with.
Here's what i have done to try and remedy:

repair easy anti cheat
allow the predecessor.exe through my anti virus
verify steam install
delete and regenerate the easy anti cheat .sys file
restart the PC
fully shutdown and boot the PC

What ends up fixing it is none of the above, I will log in randomly one day and it won't crash anymore until the next incident which could be in one week or 2....

Is there a way to deal with this once and for all?

Have you got any other games running EAC?

"This issue is usually caused by game instance being closed not properly (crash). Simply rebooting your PC would fix this error, but if you still see it after, that means there is a problem with the game itself."

make sure youre quitting the game via the button and not alt f4

I do, Elden Ring uses EAC and The First Descendent also uses EAC, as far as i know i do exit these games properly when i'm done playing. And Yes the PC restart/reboot would fix this.

BitDefender - That was actually a thing i forgot to list in the bug ticket... I shut off the Anti-Virus (BitDefender Shield) and the issue persists.

try uninstalling it fully and giving it a go

ok so i tried uninstalling both bitdefender and predecessor, i re-installed predecessor on a different drive and rebooted and the problem persists...

Sounds like a windows issue. I hate to say it but a clean windows install might be your best option now

makes sense. I don't think i'll go that far and do clean windows install, for the time being the game is unplayable for me, maybe the pred devs can use a version of EAC that works for everyone? not really sure but this is the only game that has issues with EAC

right on, in recent memory that is because there are threads about this going as far back as 2020 on steam/reddit

Majority of the time it gets fixed tho. That’s why I’m suggesting a windows reinstall as a last resort
