subtle jungle
I have not been playing much offlane since I decided I am not very good at it. I just can't beat Grux and he has been a top pick for so long. Got forced into offlane last game. It was Grux (because of course it was), and I lost lane as badly as expected.
I was playing my main in offlane, Crunch, which is supposed to be a matchup that can go either way if played correctly, but I almost always lose trades unless I hit level 6 first. I have seen JoeYoursTruly play the matchup and he likes to go in for a single ability+basic rather than the long trades that would activate Grux's omnivamp.
The only thing I'm not figuring out is... pull. I go in for a small trade or last hit. Grux hits me. I try to walk away. Grux pulls me back in. I either fight and continue to lose the trade, walk away and only lose the trade a little, or dash away and feel sad that I can't get last hits since he is holding ult for when my dash is down. I was told to play around cooldowns, but if he never uses E and the Q in the same trade, he has guarunteed win-trade buttons on alternating cooldowns since he can get basic+stun+basic+Double Pain off in the time it takes me to get ability+basic+stunned.
It feels like no matter what I do it's:
- Slowly get pushed out of lane
- Sit there and watch Grux last hit
- Die
All of these lead to my team yelling at me in chat for not keeping the Grux in check as he holds left click on my team.
I know Grux dies easy to ganks because of his low mobility and tendancy to build damage early, but is there any way to reasonably farm in lane against him without relying on your jungler? Because sometimes I manage wave to my side, take bad trades to bait for a gank when my jungler is on 3 camp, and then my jungler just... walks away. And then comes back later to gank the full HP Grux....
