Warning: Grim content ahead.
Despite the name, this is moreso a simple overall guide to Grim than a full on encyclopedia.
Let’s address the elephant in the room, or should I say Fridge. Grim is not a good character right now, but I do not think he’s as bad as people think he is.
Grim’s role in a team:
Grim is a defensive oriented artillery attack damage carry, he specializes in harassing enemies with long range pokes while utilizing his more defensive tools to keep opponents off of him.
Grim is not the hero who can push up and wipe out teams with ease, he relies on his support and team to pave the way for him to reach the fight with no hassle.
How do you play him in a match:
Grim plays further back than other adcs, he wants to be either halfway up the minion wave or further back. He will not win any trades early on unless his support is an aggressive one like Steel, Belica, Muriel or Riktor. Your focus is solely on the wave, clear it as well as you can until you get to level 2 or 3 depending on whether you get spellshield or Assault Mod next.
Grim wants to poke as much as often with his orb. It does a good chunk of damage each use and he can easily regain mana via sentry mode hitting minions. If the enemy team has sustain then direct your attention entirely to waves.
GRIM DOES NOT WANT TO FIGHT IF HE CAN’T GET AWAY WITH IT
You’re too big and immobile a target to play cocky, so don’t get too aggressive.
This is how you’ll play the laning phase until it’s time to rotate and do team fights.
When you get to team fights:
You DO NOT want to fight in narrow corridors, you’re begging to be killed.
How do you fight in a team fight:
Similar to how you lane, start off by being at a distance and landing lobs. Slowly approach as the enemy team gets weaker and when you’re in basic attack range, go into assault mode and let it rip. There is one major advantage Grim has, you hurt. So when you’re able to finally go in, you can start cleaning up.
