Trying to understand for example when an item has 8 pen on it, does that mean 8 % pen?

How does armour interact with health and when is it better to do an overall health scaling build (overlord and bonesaw) vs raw armour stats ?

Just trying to understand how these values interact thanks !

8 pen would just be flat pen meaning you ignore 8 of that armor type

Pen works in this order:
1st - Stat Reduction (think citadel passive, or drongo ultimate)
2nd - %Pen (ignores a % amount of the targets armor)
3rd - Flat Pen (ignores a flat amount of targets armor)

Oh, just good related info, % mitigation works like true armor. So you just mitigate that % of damage coming in after all the functional equations occur

Also I believe beyond 200 armor of any kind, health becomes more valuable because of the way armors give diminishing returns on damage reductions

The equation has been posted multiple times before lemme see if i can find it for you

Armor Resistance % = 1 - 100/(Armor-Penetration + 100).

So if you have 75 armor and they have 25 pen, the formula would be = 1 - (100)/(75-25+100) = 1 - (100/150) = 1 - (.66) = 0.33

So you would block 1/3 of the damage.

If you had 75 armor and they had no pen, it would be = 1 - (100)/(75-0+100) = 1 - .57 = 0.43, where you would block 43% of incoming damage.

Note that this formula applies to both basic and ability armor, though it takes more card points to reach the same value for ability armor

@tulip lintel We probably should have a hard pinned Pred Learning post that cantains info like the above formula.

Like any info that is officially accurate that you wouldnt know just by playing the game. MOBA is a very min max genre. It would help with theory crafting, strategizing, etc, and we could build on it over time
