After download mastercomfig and just starting tf2 (on opengl because thats how it was when previously using linux) I noticed that the game insisted that my native monitor resolution is 1080p,also my mouse cursor was broken in menus, although hyprctl tells me its running at 1440. After trying without opengl and using -vulkan it still insisted that my monitor runs at 1080. I tried using gamescope with following launch command:
gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -W 2560 -H 1440 -r 240 -f -- %command% -w 2560 -h 1440 -vulkan -novid -nojoy -nosteamcontroller -nohltv -particles
The menu finally worked fine, and also the game detected the 1440p correctly, now in game the mouse movement was completly broken with me shortly having a low sense, input stopping completly, than suddenly jumping my view to random positions. I have no idea how to fix this any ideas?s
#Tf2 on Linux (Cachy Os, Hyprland) struggles to set resolution correct

FIXED: Use --force-grab-cursor flag for gamescope
prob some of these launch options are not actually needed but who knows
gamescope -w *ur res width here* -h *ur res height here* -W *ur res width here* -H *ur res height here* -r *ur hz here dontreallymatterifuplaywithoutvsync* -f --force-grab-cursor -- %command% -vulkan -novid -nojoy -nosteamcontroller -nohltv -particles
Note all ur other tf2 commands come after %command%
we set 2 times res for the gamescope res and also the in game res
