#Native resolution unavailable

I'm trying to run tf2 at 2k resolution but it only allows me to select up to 1080p. I am using a dual monitor setup with an hd and a qhd monitor with the hd monitor as the default monitor. AMD Radeon 7800 XT and Arch btw. Doesnt work with launch options either. I am using hyprland if that helps.

Does launching with -displayindex 1 help at all?

already trying that. ill post my launch options

#

-w 2560 -h 1440 -displayindex 1 -novid -nojoy -nosteamcontroller -nohltv -particles 1 -vulkan

If you want a shitty hacky solution you can try changing the width and height in videoconfig_linux.txt and then make it read only

#

and remove the -w and -h launch options of course

late estuary
#

is that file supposed to be empty?

silent glade
#

No I don't think so

#

Not if you have launched the game at least once

late estuary
#

its empty

#

games already been ran so idk

silent glade
#

Maybe it's just called videoconfig.txt instead of videoconfig_linux.txt?

#

I'm not a linux user so you'll have to forgive me

#

but there should be some file in your tf folder that has the video config

#

I guess it might have .cfg extension instead of .txt sorry

late estuary
#

wait a moment

#

As far as I remember if you put a width and height in there and then deny yourself the ability to modify the file you can coax tf2 into using a resolution it would otherwise disallow

#

Might not work in all situations though

im having critical amounts of bash failures rn

#

okay i guess my path was wrong even though it wasnt?

#

well now the window starts with a black border on the bottom and right and mouse input is offset to within the real resolution

#

but when I drop the window into tiled mode it fixes itself

dxvk issues I guess

even with opengl

I saw a comment on reddit saying someone fixed the same problem you're having by setting the 1440p monitor as primary with xrandr

#

even though they're using wayland

#

xrandr --output [screen name] --primary

late estuary
#

is that a system wide command?

silent glade
#

xrandr is just a program but I think the answer to what you mean would be yes

late estuary
#

well

silent glade
#

but it's primarily useful on xorg

late estuary
#

that would probably conflict with my hyprland config

silent glade
late estuary
#

since i have it manually set for my monitors

silent glade
late estuary
#

i also looked at that issue but when i tried gamescope it would crash upon starting tf2

silent glade
#

That comment is suggesting a solution alternative to gamescope

late estuary
#

I don't have a screenshot tool for my desktop lol

#

This is after using xrandr

#

strangely when it was loading it was at the correct resolution

best guess is going r/archlinux or r/linux_gaming
