if your getting sudden frame drops, try editing tf2's processor affinity so that it does not utilize cpu core 0. this should prevent tf2 from getting into fights with the rest of the operating system over who gets the cpu and give you more stability.

Has anyone tested to see how beneficial the affinity trick actually is on 4 core cpus?

I know on 6 cores or more it often helps and on dual core chips it often doesn't
