In fairness the fix is easy, the logistics of the courtesy Valve extends to creators is complicated.
One person at Valve could probably pretty reasonably fix the color of the handful of cosmetics that relied on the old texture. But Valve prefers to let creators manage their own work, so thereās a dilemma of whether to step on toes, at no technical/legal malice, or just go back to dealing with the minor bug. Easiest and most courteous option is the latter.
I would be interested to know how affected creators reacted to this. If maybe they have been contacted to make changes so this fix could potentially be re-added in the future, or if creators are taking it upon themselves to offer their fix-compatible changes, or if any of them are even active still.
Would just be interesting to know.
I can tell you this, most of them are not active with the game anymore.

lighting quality of maps: no, its baked into the map file itself, you'd have to recompile the map and then that would make it completely incompatible with any server running the map

interesting quirk, if you have weaopn fast switch enabled, you can still bring up the weapon select menu (visually, doesn't accept input) for about a second with any of the slot commands past 6 (slot7 through slot12)

The original festive sticky bomb launcher was bugged and had white lights. They ended up adding it as style 2 and the fixed multi-colored lights were added as style 1.
I think it was the first weapon to have multiple styles. iirc now the bat outta hell also has multiple, or maybe itās based on the class you have equipped. Thereās some trivia fact there

I just encountered the weirdest bug in tf2 i've ever seen
the hcat opened but broke in such a way that it didn't think the chat was open
so i was able to play the game but couldn't move my mouse
I couldn't interact with the chat or open any menus
if i pressed the chat button again it would just open the chat again
eventually i figured out that I am the luckiest person on the planet because i have hud_reloadscheme bound, which closed the chat window, but didn't end the bug
so i had control of the mouse again but everything else was still broken, and if I opened the chat again it would still get locked

support spurs are not on scout, so dogtags and headphones bodygroups were unused anyway
and the face plante is a hockey mask for scout, so now it doesn't remove your dogtags :)
