so no matter what is nonfunctional or incorrectly implemented, it IS correct
because if it wasnt correct, they wouldnt have shipped it

they playtested the charge.
they didnt notice the charge extend missing.
therefore, the charge extend is not intended
because if it was, they would have bothered making sure that his range was extended
because it would have failed in the playtest
a great and well documented example of this which i think everyone should know of is the Strider in HL2.

an idiot might see a bug and go "wow, i need to fix that strider damage to 5! thats the intended value because 15 was a bug!"
but no, the intended value is whatever the value was that worked during the design and playtesting of that feature.
its a hard distinction to make without being a valve employee, but i use a lot of clues
for example the historical context, the patch note, what valve was looking at in the community, what the iteration process was, who was likely to have shipped that code, what the larger philosophy behind the changes which introduced a bug were, etc.
and also how easy to notice or impactful a bug would be to balance or to observational studies such as valve's
thats how i come to the conclusion that the iron bomber hitbox was a bug but the charge range is not
obviously, theres cases where i toe the line

I feel like a lot of the complaints about "the tf2 spirit" miss that tf2's been a stone soup for longer than some players have been alive. Prophunt doesn't fit that launch-day tf2 vibe... that arguably hasn't been the case since at least the second scream fortress back in 2010
I think prophunt should be a Halloween mode. It makes sense since Merasmus turned into props in his boss fight

Honestly at this point it's Valve's decision. If they decide PH doesn't fit then in their opinion it doesn't fit, if they decide it does then it does.

I liked Mr.McVicker's Idea of adding an "Arcade" category to the map selection panel. Honestly things like Pass Time and Mann Power should be added to that category, I can't recall if they have their own yet.
I think if they add an "Arcade" category it completely nullfies any argument against adding the whacky gamemodes. As long as they don't start accepting like 10gb maps.
I think it is a perception thing, "Misc" just implies "none of the above" where as "Arcade" implies its a sorta separate style than the rest.
Like player destruction is Misc, it's still a pretty "vanilla" gamemode. Passtime, Mannpower, PH, SH, are pretty distinctly different experiences.
I think that also improves the experience of "Misc" gamemodes, but maybe I'm wrong🤷♂️

tbh aside from the occasional weird thing on there, the HLDS mailing list is nice, emails for tf2 updates, every now and again there's a bit of conversation, a little bit of extra info from valve (if they decide to respond)

the naive fix makes you have to choose between the fucked up 170 self-damage vs no ks/strange counting

idk the truce is what ruined ghost fort because it was to help people finish merasmissions in 2015, killing krampus isnt a goal of the map he's just there to add chaos. he's the first actual cool tf2 boss IMO. MErasmus is boring, the horesemann and skeleton king are OP, and monoculus isn't really fun to fight at all.

-The customization screen locking out your mouse was fixed, it was actually a bug in default hud too, had to do with the training menu just locking your crosshair if you opened it in game. Fixed that before I left for New Mexico this summer
-The MvM bar I think was fixed recently, still probably in the development branch though.
-The MvM victory loot thing not showing is a bug in default hud too, apparently the bug essentially gets toggled by reloading the hud. If it happens and you reload hud it’ll stop happening, then if you reload hud again it starts happening? The hud dev community has started hunting that bug actively as of yesterday though.
-The text overlapping on the MvM scoreboard I’m pretty sure I’ve fixed, that might still be in the development branch though.
-The health bar not being relative to MvM health: there’s not really anything that can be done about that, it’s relative to 150% overheal for stock and kritz, quick fix won’t fully fill the bar and MvM won’t fully show the bar. In MvM I don’t think it’s a big issue because if someone has 150% health they’re just as healthy as someone with 400% overheal. With the quick fix, it’s a bad weapon, but also it’s kinda good to know someone doesn’t have 150% overheal, because if they get healed by another medigun you can still see it.
Also there’s no plan to port to TF2C. I’ve never played it and don’t really plan to so I won’t be able to test it. If it uses the same sdk2013 build as TC2, it can work if you change the version number of it in info.vdf. But TF2C adds a class and teams and almost definitely breaks more elements than TC2 that was a pretty direct port.
