I am in the market for a new mouse to replace my G700s that is kind of old. So I was trying out my brother's G603
this "gaming" mouse has an abysmal 125 pooling rate
and I saw exactly the problem described
and it makes totally sense. If you refresh your mouse less often than your fps, and then you move the camera at a velocity that is fast, but not fast enough that you can't discern the map's geometry, you get can clearly see it
but what surprises me is how unoticeable it is when you are not doing that "orbiting" motion
now I'm gonna go back and suggest this to a few people that might have experienced it

I think people complaining about art styles serves only as a form of elitism and holds back creativity in 99% of cases. There’s a handful of situations where something just looks as jarring my out of place as the closeups in SpongeBob, but those are pretty rare.

I actually think funke's movement shooter series is some of his best content. His category for it is extremely arbitrary, but its a decent "i like these games for these reasons" series.

I think all shooters exist on a movement-shooter spectrum between "I can only move with WASD and spacebar" and "I can constantly wallrun, quintuple jump, rocket jump, and have 14 different types dashes/teleports/grapples"
Doesn't have to be black and white. I wouldn't call valorant a movement shooter overall but there are characters with quick dash abilities and stuff

I feel like teleports and dashes generally feel like cop-outs for movement games. Like I've never in my life used a teleport mechanic and gone "damn that felt good."
Dashes often feel the same but a few games pull it off.

i enjoy quake/source-style blast jumping and airstrafing because it feels like you're a physical object

Agreed. I can't really think of any good examples of grapples but I know I've played one. Maybe Apex pathfinder grapple? Though it's only good because of quirks. And source engine ofc

Ledge grabbing and/or hurdling ig you could call it. Both are lumped in as "vaulting" in a lot of games

Overwatch is the opitome of bad modern movement. They have those "flashy" movement options, but ZERO momentum. The moment your "rocket jump" ends you come to a hault. The moment your grapple ends, you come to a dead stop. It feels so bad. It's genuinely a crime

You probably could do this with a CExButton actually. I think image+text is kinda the exact use case of that element, though most instances of it are just images or just text, but it supports subbuttons, so should work. Though I'm speaking from memory here.
If that wasn't an option, then you could always just add an image on top of the button and add the parameter: "mouseinputenabled" "0" to the image so you could click through it. That means it wouldn't obey hover effects, and it wouldn't have any logic beyond being a predefined bind, but neither do those buttons anyway.

iirc strafing was exploited in quake speedruns before rocket jumping. But I think the first implementation of it was that strafing into a wall while you walked forward made you walk slightly faster. So not quite the strafing we know and love
